Hello VJ members,

My fiancee was issued a 221g requesting additional documents on January 14 2010 after his second interview from the Lagos Consulate to prove that I last visited Nigeria 1985. I FedEx my passport from when I was a baby. So the question is: providing that the documents are given, whats the next step? Does he have to do another interview? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Be sure that he submits a photocopy to the CO and has the actual passport available for inspection. That way you will be sure to have the passport returned.

Do you have all your passports since you where that age. I know they expire quicker when you are younger so you have more than one correct ? Make copies of all pages of all passports. You want to be able to show them that you have no other entry stamps other than the one from when you were 2

If you have stamps from travel make sure you can read whatever they are for. He should submit them and then you should hear from the, after.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I doubt he will have another interview since all they requested for is the passport/travel details. Once she's satisfied with the document then he will most likely be given a date to come pick up his visa. The end is near.

I think the safest route is to include ALL passport pages as they seem to think you have been to Nigeria since then. The old passport shows that you did visit and the rest of the pages show that was your last visit by the lack of another entry stamp. Many Nigerians carry both passports because of dual citizenship , do you have a Nigerian one ? It is actually better at the moment that you don't because you could have used a Nigerian passport to enter at will and that would hurt things at the moment.

NigeriaorBust,

No I dont have a Nigerian passport. Im a US Citizen. My fiancee has my most recent passport, and I FedEx my passport from when I was 2 years old.All of my passport pages are intact. Thats why I was delighted to send my passport because the CO will clearly see a visa stamp from 10/1985 to 12/1985.

I don't know why they would require to see if you visited Nigeria when you were 2 years old? Can you elaborate on that?

Was your visit (in the previous 2 years of the date your submitted the I-129F) on this old passport?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Bobby+Umit,

Thanks for the reply. They want additional evidence that I havent visited Nigeria other than 1985 because the CO thinks I secretly got married. When I went to Dubai last year to see my fiancee, I applied for another passport because the old passport was expired.

Ah - that would make sense - thanks for the info.

I see Nigeria has some strange requests for visas.
