One more question regarding I-130 and copies

Hey all,

According to the government website and various "instruction" guides they all say "copies of..." when mentioning birth certificates, civil marriage marriage certificates, etc and I was wondering if a simple photocopy is sufficient or should I get certified true copies for this initial filing?

Just trying to do the right thing so as to not have to wait any longer than I must.

Also, I was wondering if there was a glossary of acronyms on this site? I see many acronyms used and some I can find on the internet, others I cannot.

Yes, I've tried to use the search box but with no results.

Unless an original/certified copy is specified send a photocopy of the source document. Have original/cert. copy available at the interview in case the adjudicator wants to inspect it.

Hi..

You should just send photocopies of the originals. No certification required. They do not state this on the applications anyway. They advise to send photocopies of the originals.

"Original" does not usually apply to such things as US birth certificates or divorce decrees. Generally, the best you have is a certified copy. You then inlude a photocopy of the certified copy when filing the petition and then take the actual certified copy to the interview.
