My cousin recently got married to a Canadian also. Tomorrow I am going to go meet with him and try to help him fill out paperwork! So I just thought I might ask here, is there anything that I should tell him to make sure he does or doesnt and if there is any advice from anyone here I would love to hear it! I am thinking of the things to tell him but want to make sure I do not miss anything! By the way, this is the only thread I vist on Visa Journey any more so that is why I post this question here! And thanks already for any help that you have!!!

Hi! What visa did your cousin's wife use? Did she have a K-1 or B-1/B-2, etc.?

It might be helpful to print out the VJ guides for him too - and make sure that all the forms are up-to-date!

She was working at a hospital and was here on a B-1. Where is a good place to download the forms that you know are up to date and you know that the from has all the pages you need? I know somewhat, I looked through our packet although I had Immigration Docs fill them out. But just want to make sure of everything! I already told him to get a I-693 Medical done, unless its not good to send unless they ask for it? I would think you may as well just get it done. Anyone else know? Once again, Immigration Docs tried to tell me that it is not always required thats why they didnt have us do that, because I tried to get a partial refund due to their service doing very little for me in this process, and I got that snappy answer and then "click".

ALWAYS download the forms from the USCIS website:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Yes, send the I-693 with the AOS packet - make sure he has a copy of it too (the Civil Surgeon should give them one) just in case USCIS asks for it (I've read some threads where USCIS sent an RFE for the I-693 even though it was sent with the original AOS packet. It's not uncommon for them to misplace it).

Also, I believe they'll need the I-130 too since she entered on a B-1 visa?

Hope that helps! ^_^

Everyone,

Since we are waiting for AOS interview dates to be assigned or waiting for the interview, if already assigned, I thought it would be a good idea to get a list of possible evidence of relationship going so that we all have ideas of what to take, feel free to add your ideas to the following list I have started:

Ideas for AOS Interview Evidence:

-Joint tax returns

-Pictures from weddings, receptions, civil marriages, trips together/with relatives/family members

-Proof of living arrangements: lease agreements OR notarized statements from people living with you (parents/ relatives)

-Joint bank accounts: saving, checking, etc.

-Joint bank locker, safety deposit box, etc.

-Joint cell phone accounts

-Joint credit cards

-Joint Health, Life, Dental, Vision, Car, and Rental Insurance policies

Barely had problems during the biometrics appointment. I must thank those who suggested that I bring our marriage certificate because I had to show it several times to prove the basis of my name change.

That's it's I officially bear my husband's surname.

Best of luck to you all. Guten Natch!!!

Good news! Our interview letter arrived today for March 31st. No online updates or touches since biometrics a couple of weeks ago. The letter came from the National Benefits Center. Good luck to everyone else! I know some others have the same interview date as we do!
