Does anyone know how long a CR1 visa is valid for once it is issued by the embassy? In other words, how long do you have to use it?

6/27/2009 Married

10/20/2009 I-130 sent

10/28/2009 NOA1

2/8/2010 NOA2

2/12/2010 NVC received and case number assigned

2/19/2010 Gave NVC email addresses

2/19/2010 AOS/DS3032 generated (not related to giving the emails)

2/21/2010 Emailed DS3032

2/22/2010 Received DS3032 and AOS bill via email

2/23/2010 Paid AOS bill

2/25/2010 AOS bill shows Paid and coversheet printed

3/2/2010 Received IV bill

4/9/2010 Paid IV bill

4/12/2010 IV bill shows Paid and coversheet printed

4/13/2010 Mailed IV packet

4/15/2010 IV packet received and signed for

4/16/2010 AOS packet mailed

I think 6 months or until the medical expires.(whichever comes first)...I was reading somewhere...i have to see if I can find it again. That is why you want the medical close to the interview.

Removal of conditions Journey

16 March 2012 Sent I-751 package from Aviano AB, Italy.

29 March 2012 Received everything back...wrong fee. thought we didn't have to pay biometrics since we were sending fingerprint cards and passport photos.

30 March 2012 Sent everything out again from Aviano AB, Italy.

10 April 2012 Check cashed

17 April 2012 Received NOA1 dated 6 April.

06 Dec 2012 Received 10 yr green card. Letter said it was approved 28 November 2012.

Is not dependent on the medical - it is 6 months from issue.

you have 6 months from the date it's issued to first use (come into a POE )

Then, you'll get another stamp in the passport, at the POE, with another date, as well.

It is dependant on the medical, my wife had to wait for the results from a sputum test so she only had a couple of months to travel once the visa was issued.

No, the test caused her to have to reschedule her interview, so they issued her visa to expire six months from her medical NOT her date of interview.
