My wife came over on K-1 and did the whole medical check in Japan. We did what we were told we could do (even in the instructions) and just filled out certain sections of the medical form and had a public surgeon notarize the immunizations, seal it in an envelope, and send all of that in.

Today in the mail we got an RFE saying that we didn't include a full medical exam.

I am not in the mood to spend hundreds of dollars more just to do it again.

Has anyone had this happen? What should I do?

It happens a lot that they lose the medical somewhere, have you tried calling the border patrol at her point of entry? or calling the medical place that she got her original and see if they will send you another copy of it?

Here is exactly what the letter says...

*Submit a properly completed and signed Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, (Rev. 06/05/08 or later) for the applicant on Form I-485. The medical examination must be conducted by a civil surgeon who has been designated by USCIS. The medical must be issued less than one year prior to the filing date of Form I-485.

To obtain names and telephone numbers of the designated civil surgeons is your area, go online to http://www.uscis.gov/ or call USCIS’ National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. You may need to provide your zip code. Have a pen or pencil ready to write down the list of civil surgeons in your area.

The civil surgeon must conduct the exam as directed in the instructions to Form I-693 and the Centers for Disease Control’s Technical Instructions for the Medical Examination of Aliens in the United States. Both the medical examination and the vaccination record must be completed when required.

Even if I do this, they want the form I-693, which needs to be completed by a civil surgeon here, right? So even if they get the copy of the medical, I still need to go to a civil surgeon and re-do what I already did... I don't get it.

yea just send what they request, no need to redo the whole form unless they ask you to redo the form. Im not sure whats up with your 693 thing tho! since you posted the whole request it seems weird they would ask for it. Maybe try calling USCIS and request to speak to a supervisor or maybe an info pass appointment and ask them at the appointment to do a search for the missing medical. If everything on it like her shots are up to date and its still within the year it all should be fine as is...

Are you a November filer? Well as of now you are the 5th Nov filer who received that RFE. I also have an I-693 RFE even we submitted I-693 with the AOS Package. They said here that our medical might lost... what a co-incident that this November that many medical records were lost....

I also received that actual letter, but that mail is generic... those who just sent the DS 3025 Nov filers received same letter. So if a filer just sent DS 3025 he/she might send just transcribe by the CS, but if a person sent I-693 with AOS package we are thinking to have the full medical examination because of the confusing words "properly completed..."

My case is already resumed but actually I still worrying because I just responded by another transcribe by CS... I saw that they touched my I-485 twice after they resumed my case but no assurance, I might receive another RFE asking for full medical exam. I responded just a transcription because I thought they rejected it because Dr. Arnold made my 1st I-693 until I figure out that many Nov filer received I-693 RFE.

When I tried to call the USCIS the costumer representative told me that I do not need a full medical exam, but that words is not an assurance better I had another full medical, than still worrying if they will accept it or not.

Also, if they ask for something like "The W-2s from past tax returns as support for the Affidavit of Support", I just need to send the W-2s, right? I don't need to redo the whole form?

We actually had the same RFE now I am military and aside from the W-2 I would strongly suggest you send your past 1040EZ for the most recent years. But we are having to do our whole med exam cause we know that if we call the hospital and ask for a coy we won't get one. My wife is from the Philippines but I am over here in okinawa japan, I found all of this out by talking to an immigrations officer not the USCIS people they just transfered my call to one and they were so helpful. If you call the USCIS office just tell them you would like to be transfered to an officer and they would be more then happy to help you

I submitted my Form I-693 too completed by a civil surgeon in a sealed envelope as well as my DS-3025 Vaccination sheet from Manila where I undergone my medical exam.

I am upset. I didn't expect to receive an RFE as I thought I submit all the requirements for AOS.

did you have to undergo another medical exam or just another transcription?

hi, you really need to go to the civil surgeon accredited by the USCIS. Just browse the uscis site and you can find there the list of civil surgeons accorsing to your area. i just did last week and paid $150 and also if they found out that im positive to skin tuberculosis they have to give me x-ray and pay another $50 and more and more if they find out something with regards to your health but i am thankful that i am negative on it and all the expense i paid is only $150.

-if money is an issue, I'd go to an Infopass and ask what's up.

-if money is not an issue, I'd just get a full medical and send in the completed form.
