I realized I did something wrong

I just realized I filled out the check for $455 incorrectly. (Stupid! ) Instead of making it out to Department of Homeland Security, I made it out to USCIS. Should I wait for them to request a new check or should I just go ahead and send in a new one? I just sent the petition packet a day ago.

Unless you can stop the petition from getting to USCIS in the first place, you're better off waiting for them to tell you to send a new check if they require it. You have to remember that something like 60,000 people apply for a fiance visa each year, not to mention the numerous other visas. The chances of your new check getting to the right place are pretty slim.

Sorry (F) Hope it goes quickly for you!

That certainly is not the norm. The OP may get lucky, but they should also prepare themselves for the package to be sent back.

Fair enough, give it a couple days and you can check on your bank's website, mine had a electronic scan of the cashed check after 4 days or so.

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. :( I can't believe I did that! I looked at everything 5 times, but completely forgot to make sure the check was correct. I knew I was missing something

Would they send a RFE (i know a check is not evidence) or something like that...or would they just send back my whole package??

They'll send the whole thing back, they won't issue NOA1 without cashing the check. Someone earlier put the wrong amount or forgot to sign it and they mailed it back.

Quite a few people have done what you did and their checks were cashed. USCIS wants your/our money!

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

It'll be fine. I did the same thing... wrote USCIS on the Pay To section of the check. So, don't worry about it. ;)

I doubt it will be a problem.
