Sorry to hear that Monica.

I hope the CSC reviews it and re approves it for you guys. I have heard that the CSC just waits until the petition expires though. I wonder why they do that. I guess less work for them right.

I am sending good luck vibes your way. I hope you guys hear good news soon

Oh Monica -- I am so sorry..fingers crossed you can get an appeal once it lands at the CSC.

Ecuador I am sure you are right with what is going on with Bek...a lot of teen girl stuff, adjusting to a new life here & finally seeing what her mum looks like happy in her life. We had a long talk with her yesterday and we are hopeful that she will settle down.

Good Morning Ladies,

Sorry for the hiatus, just can't seem to find enough hours in the day lately! Once in a while I'll zoom in and read a post or two and think, 'oh, that's interesting I must answer' and then I get drawn away. I imagine my experience is not unusual though.

Still panicking about the wedding. I know we should just relax and let it happen but it's hard not to get all wound up in it. No, it won't be a small semi-private affair. I have ~20 family members flying in from the 4 corners of the country and at least that many friends from half a dozen states wanting to come. Sheesh, you'd think we were 22 and it were our first marriage or something! Hardly a day goes by that I don't get a lovingly-angry letter or call from someone berating me because we have been back in country all of two weeks and I haven't called/written to update them on how things are going. Then there is this business where the employees wonder the owner went...!

But, I am happy to report, all is good in the world! Everyone is happy. Steph you asked about the boy(s). I don't know if you mean mine or yours, sorry! My new lad is just happier than a clam in mud! Yesterday Mom made some kind of potato thing with various stuffing things in it. Quite tasty but there were only two plates. I asked Denys why he wasn't eating and he announced he no longer likes Russian food. He's an American now and he likes only American food. Tops on the list are Pizzas, Hamburgers, French Fries, and Sodas! Oh boy.

And talk about eating! Steph I'm not sure how many boys you have (is it 5?!) but if they eat like my teen you're going to have to spend their college money on food. And drink! Denys will drink 1/2 to 1 gallon of juice every day! (Call it the better part of 4 liters.) Thank goodness for Costco.

Life continues on the path of happiness.

Caspar, look forward to Denys' dentists bills if he keeps on drinking that much juice per day!

I had a trip to social security this morning. Equal easiest part of the process (alongside POE) so far. In and out within 1/2 an hour, employee who knew what he was doing, dead simple!

The joys of teenagers! Thank goodness that's a long while off for us :)

WOW Caspar -- I am giggling here as my boys have the same appetite...though they are still in AUS I remember all too well the grocery bill that comes along with such hearty appetites. Bek is adjusting nicely to the foods here...we have been sampling some recipes to make which we tweak to suit our tastes..simple stuff but filling & yummy.

Not much to report here...we got our Biometrics appointment letters yesterday -- 12th August WOOT!!

Timeline

Yep. 5 boys. One daughter heading back off to college. But one stepson staying behind in Ecuador to finish medical school there. Two stepsons coming. Sure they will eat me out of house and home, between them and their dad... My 18 year old son is off to college, too, next month same time. And my 7 year old son doesn't eat THAT much yet.

I am filling most of my time right now with follow up work from my teaching Fellowship/trip down to Ecuador. Also spending a fair amount of time this week asking the high school what to do about the 17 year old (who technically was to graduate from Ecuador this month). Trying to obtain permission for him to continue in high school here and take ELL (English Language Learner) English class plus the 5 elective technology classes that would be great for prepping him to go into Graphic Design (his desired career choice). And a spot on the soccer team. Keep him busy doing the stuff he wants to do for a career and stay one more year in the more sheltered environment of the high school where he can learn more advanced computer skills but he wouldn't have the pressure of grades and no English support at the Technical School or University. I think that's the better option so he meet friends his age instead of taking a year off at 17 and just working and getting out of the swing of schooling. Thing is, he already completed all the requirements for graduation in his country...so...you try being the stepmom that convinces your stepson to do one more year extra of high school and not ask for the graduation certificate yet!!! jeez. We'll see on that one.

OH, and my fiance totally misinformed the 15 year old about his high school schedule. Told him he would lose a year of learning coursework and take only English. (Based on...that's what he thought would happen, even though he didn't consult anyone or ask) MAN! The kid didn't want to come after that. I, the ESL teacher, had to set my own fiance straight about my job, and yes, he will have Math, Science, History, and Phy Ed as required. We don't separate the newbies in another room for a year, it was shot down in the 1960's and was called discrimination... He will learn Geometry just fine with a bilingual aide in the classroom and a stepmom who is a bilingual and ESL teacher. Biology will be rough, but hey, better to focus on the most basic concepts and terminologies of Biology then skip it, no?

And the closer I get to this interview, the less I want any sort of a larger or fancy wedding gathering. The simpler the better, what a crazy back-to-school time for me. Ha. I'm even skipping out on a day of teacher inservice for this interview.

August 2010 Last-minute decision by two of Ivan's boys that they want the K2, two more weeks of drafting and Notorizing new legal custody agreements

8/12/10 A FIFTH PIN and call-- "call back just ahead".

8/16/10 A SIXTH PIN and call-- "we can book you for in two days, but if you want next Monday the 23rd or Tuesday the 24th, then call back later THIS WEEK, and we will book you for MONDAY MORNING". frustrated letter by me to Consulate email

8/17/10 Call from US Consulate Guayaquil, man profusely apologizing, books us for 24th.

8/24/10 K1 interview--denied--told he has a lifetime ban. Sad, sad, very sad day.

How is everyone doing? Stephanie, it must be so helpful to you that you already know the school system and can make the adjustment easier for your step-children.

We are going to Cincinnati this weekend to look at a car. Depending on finance we'll get it I think because Yuri has fallen in love with it and I don't really care as long as it's manual. I've also found a place where I can train my gymanstics and hopefully I can get some work with them (maybe volunteer at first) so things are starting to get better here.

We finally have a vacuum cleaner (I know, sad) almost. The sucky UPS guy delivered it to the clubhouse and didn't even leave a note because he doesn't like walking up the stairs in the heat! The only reason we know it was delivered is because the website said it would be yesterday and we checked the tracking. I've told Yuri to complain to UPS because this guy has done that twice now. He's #######!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hey Emma

Oh man I wish I lived closer to Cincinnati I would come see you guys!! I hope you guys get the car you both want. We have been looking at cars too. Angelo wants to the new electric car. The Nissan Leaf. I am kind of iffy about getting an electric car. But we will see.

I'm glad you found a place for your gymnastics hun.

You are one step ahead of us. I found Angelo's old vacuum yesterday and I tried to use it and well lets say it made the worst noise I have ever heard! I thought it was going to explode LOL.

So now I have to find another one.

And I hear you about UPS they are all lazy. I tried ordering some clothes and they left them at the main office and said noone was home. Well I don't go anywhere so I know I was home. Lazy bums!

Hey all,

Can someone please stop the world...just for 5 minutes please LOL! We never seem to stop here.

Emma I am glad you have found somewhere for you to teach Gymnastics. I have not even started looking yet. i should have looked earlier...maybe we could have co-ordinated & met down in Cinncinati when you were there.

We have been slowly but surely painting the house...changing colours etc. We painted our master bedroom this past weekend. We used a Granite Textured Paint...never again!!!! It is messy & horrible to use but the effect is stunning LOL.

Next week is Biometrics...cant wait to get that out of the way.

Hey guys, sorry to have been MIA. Angelo is going through some tough health issues. We found out after a year of Angelo thinking he had an ulcer that his doctor misdiagnosed him :(.

He has gallstones and tomorrow we are going to the hospital to get his gallbladder taken out of him.

He is really nervous and to be honest so am I. But finally he won't be in pain all the time and he can eat his favorite Italian food again since everytime he did it would really hurt him.

We want to get it all done before the wedding so he will be full recovered

Congrats on the biometrics app there Terri!

Meggy, wish Angelo good luck for his op. I've heard it's pretty routine so I'm sure that he'll be fine.

Thanks Terri. I can't actually work yet, of course, but I can train there and maybe I can volunteer as a coach before I'm allowed to work. Well done with the painting. I can't wait to live in a house that we can actually do stuff to, rather than this 'magnolia' apartment.

We got a car for me this weekend, depending on the finance. I'm so happy to finally have the freedom to go places during the day. Have to sit my licence tests though, if and when my SSN finally turns up. It's been 2 weeks now so starting to worry that it's got lost or not turning up!

How are you, Caspar?
