Hey guys!

I have a question about how much evidence you need to prove that you have met during the last 2 years and having an ongoing relationship.

Me and my boyfriend are about to hire a lawyer and start to fill out the I-129F form (hopefully done by the end of this year) and I am the worrying type and I do worry quite a lot about getting denied. We've been together for 3 years and have a genuine relationship.

My questions are following:

1) We usually spend time alone when we meet and he's not so fond of taking pictures (he's a little sensitive about his weight) and we don't have that many pictures of us together. Most of our pictures together are taken in June 2007, I have three photos of us from Oct 2009 with his cousins and me and him on the beach. Can I still send in the photos from 2007 and will these photos still be seen as evidence even though it's been passed over 2 years since they were taken? And if not, is three photos of us together then?

2) I have the same questions about our emails, during the last 1,5 year we talk much more on the phone, in the beginning of our relationship (2006-2007) we usually mailed to each other a lot, I have plenty of his poems and stuff on my mail account. Will it still be seen as evidence of relationship or do I have to have something that is wihtin the last 2 years?

3) I have all my boarding passes left, all the e-tickets from my trips, I can copy my stamps from the immigration but there is one that is covered due to that my dad applied a Chinese Visa when we went to see my relatives. The visa is covering the whole page and I don't wanna remove since it could damage my passport and become invalid. How should I do? I can prove that I boarded the plane and that I was admitted into the US on my trips after that one. Also I have an e-ticket from me and my boyfriend going to Miami together from NYC, we don't have the boarding passes but would an e-ticket be enough?

4) How can we prove our ongoing relationship? I was in the US latest Oct 2009, I've asked my boyfriend to get his cell phone bills specified so it will show that he have called to Sweden (my country of orgin) and that he has recieved internationall calls (I usually call from a pre-paid phone card). There is a few e-mails I sent him about him calling me and stuff, very ordinay. Is that enough for an ongoing relationship?

Sorry for the long post, I'm just worried.

Thank you for taking your time to answer, all help is very much appreciated! :star:

When do I need to prove our relationship then? If I only need to prove that I've met my boyfriend within the last two years, will a copy on the stamps from my passport and a copy of our e-ticket to Miami be enough I assume?

Most important is to prove you guys have a ongoing bonifide relationship at the embassy interview.

Doesn't take much to prove you guys have met in person in the last 2 years.

Start piling up communication records and make multiple trips to see each if you can.

Not required but it SURE helps.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

If you have the boarding passes for the trips together that would be fine too, also the log from a frequent flyer account showing the flights... Bring whatever photos you have... If you will see each other before the interview then make him take some pictures...

Since Sweden is not considered a high-fraud country (in fact I would venture to bet that many people are trying to get IN to Sweden) I am not sure how stringent they are on the bonafides... But you have to show that you have met in the past 2 years and that you have an ongoing relationship (which the e-mails and phone records will show)

Thanks for your answer!

No I do not have the boarding pass with me, I think my boyfriend had it in his bag and I doubt he even bother to keep them. However, I hope the e-ticket will be enough evidence, I could prove I was in the US already and we went from NY to Miami, it's clear that I met him there and we both went to Miami. Lets say we didn't boarder the aircraft but we were still in NY. Ah, I think it's gonna be ok.

That is true, I checked up all I-129F with a Swedish citizen as a benificary and all cases were approved expect those who was still pendling. I guess that's good odds, as I said.. I'm the worrying type!

Here's a friendly-yet-crucial one: Get used to referring to your boyfriend as your fiance! The authorities can take a dim view, otherwise. :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

My fiance and I spend most of our time alone together, so many times we have almost gotten through entire trips without remembering to take pictures of us together. We had about 8 photo's of us together (over the course of about 4 trips) when our I-129F petition, and it all went well.

2) I have the same questions about our emails, during the last 1,5 year we talk much more on the phone, in the beginning of our relationship (2006-2007) we usually mailed to each other a lot, I have plenty of his poems and stuff on my mail account. We did not submit any emails at all. Didn't cause us any problems that we didn't.

3) I have all my boarding passes left, all the e-tickets from my trips, I can copy my stamps from the immigration but there is one that is covered due to that my dad applied a Chinese Visa when we went to see my relatives. We sent photocopies of my fiance's passport pages, and printouts of e-tickets. The stamps in his passport were extremely dificult to see (often almost completely faded), but our petition was still approved just fine.

If you have friends, family, tutors, anyone else that can write a letter of support for you, to say that you are in a relationship, then this might be good. I had a tutor write a letter of support when we submitted our I-129F. The letter included details such as how she knew me, how long, and that my fiance and I were in a relationship and wanted to get married.

We also saved any mail we sent to each other, and submitted the envelopes as evidence.

My fiance and I both also wrote letters of intent. These explained how we met, how our relationship progressed, and our intention to marry.

Me and my boyfriend are about to hire a lawyer

It's your money; sounds like you can do this yourself like all of us here did.

1) We usually spend time alone when we meet and he's not so fond of taking pictures

Then start taking pictures. For visa petition reasons you have to go throught extra means to prove your relationship. Think about the consular officer, how can you prove to them that you two have a relationship? Just you telling them is not enough.

(he's a little sensitive about his weight)

If you are not sensitive about it, then don't worry. They could care less about that.

and we don't have that many pictures of us together. Most of our pictures together are taken in June 2007,

Those are too old for proof of having met within the last two years but can be used at the inteview for proof of relationship.

I have three photos of us from Oct 2009 with his cousins and me and him on the beach.

That will do.

2) I have the same questions about our emails, during the last 1,5 year we talk much more on the phone,

Then, stop talking and start emailing. Generate as many different kinds of proof of communication as you can. Once again, it is not for you, it's for the visa process.

in the beginning of our relationship (2006-2007) we usually mailed to each other a lot, I have plenty of his poems and stuff on my mail account. Will it still be seen as evidence of relationship

That will work.

3) I have all my boarding passes left, all the e-tickets from my trips, I can copy my stamps from the immigration but there is one that is covered

Boarding passes along with passport stamps are perfect.

Also I have an e-ticket from me and my boyfriend going to Miami together from NYC, we don't have the boarding passes but would an e-ticket be enough?

E-tickets are not proof. I can fake those at any time.

Is that enough for an ongoing relationship?

It's a start. You have from today until your interview to generate more. Get started. Email, Skype, send cards, send gifts, take photos, get going!!!

Not to be snippy, but you think the lawyer you are aboutto fork over a bunch of money to doesn't know this? RUN.

You do not need evidence of ongoing relationship for the petition, only proof you have met at least one time in the last two years. Photos, passport stamps and boarding passes were all I sent for the petition.

And whatever you do, DO NOT let your fiancee find out about your boyfriend! He will get mad and withdraw his petition and the boyfriend can do nothing for you, there are no "girlfriend" visas.

What this is trying to say to you is that if you two are still refering to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend, then your relationship may not be developed enough to seriously intend to marry each other.

Most folks that intend to marry each other state that the other is my fiance or fiancee. The K-1 visa is for couples who are serious about their intentions to marry each other. If your evidence is contrary, you only act as friends, then this may not convince the officer of your true intentions.

Your evidence, when all put together, should "tell the story" about how you met and became friends and then serious relations and the serious desire to marry.

Haha, yes I got the humor in that! He is my fiance, I still haven't gotten used to it since no one I know around my age is married or even thinking about getting married. We have been thinking about getting married for over a year now and it's now that we are really starting to gather all the papers together. So I will definently gotten used to calling him my fiance by the time I get my NOA2!

I understand what I need to provide for the I-129F petition and what for the interview. I just wanted to know if that would be enough to prove a relationship, of course we'll have time to gather more evidence between NOA1 and NOA2.
