We may be put in a position where geoengineering is the only way to reverse any adverse effects. I think dabbling in that would be even more crazy than in just trying to cut our losses where we're at in this point in time.

Have you heard of the seeded sulfate particle plans for the upper atmosphere to reflect out solar radiation? Pretty scary, potentially dangerous idea IMO.

But as for the nuclear war scenario- I'm sure a few international treaties and the disintegration of the USSR had something to do with that, not the increase of science pointing to GW itself.

I've heard about geoengineering before and The Atlantic had an article on it saying it's relatively easy to do compared to get compliance on a global treaty. Sure it could be dangerous but considered if we're really in dire straits.

I remember hearing all the experts telling us how bad a nuclear war would be and it was becoming more likely as the arms race continued. In that case, you only to have bilateral agreements not a global treaty. I just found it odd that only after the nuke threat dropped was there any science to back global warming even though the Industrial Revolution had already begun 200 years earlier. Scientists just assumed we'd blow ourselves away before the planet could heat up so why bother studying the subject?

And... concentrating gases becomes exponential in appearance over time in a closed, yet complicated system.

Regarding the example I point to... of course it could be simple business shooting sub-orbital rockets to explode and spread particles that do what I described. The problem is that this would not respect national boundaries and you're talking about uniformly affecting areas with much variability in weather patterns. Its a dangerous can of worms I hope we don't have to open.

More... 'stable' methods would have to be employed that would likely take a while to not be too high of a risk.

Anyone who goes into this discussion with ulterior motives based entirely on political bias are dead wrong from the get go. Science can be wrong... any reasonable person knows that. However the conspiracy theory nut cases are only muddying the waters of the debate & bring no value to the discussion.

Danno is just being an obedient tool for the Manufactured Doubt Industry by posting this stupid garbage.

Marketing experts learned back in the 50's, when scientific studies were linking heart disease and lung cancer to smoking, that they could effectively sway public opinion by spreading disinformation which contradicted the science. It's amusing that Danno thinks he's doing the public a service by going viral with this disinformation, always from non-climate science sources. You could explain to him the scientific process, what scientific theory means, and how legitimate scientific findings gets published through peer-reviewed scientific journals until the sun sets and you still won't penetrate that thick skull of his. He's probably never taken a science course in college or any college for that matter.

He is part of a large number of the public that are ignorant and suspicious of science because they don't understand it. And if you look at where that begins...it begins within families who are suspicious of public schooling, so their children don't get a good basic understanding of the sciences. They see public schools and science as secular and a threat to their belief system.
