 Really cool women would never use sex as a weapon, as that is sign of a weak mind. bimbos, on the other hand....

I don't use it as a weapon, leverage perhaps...

Shani: " I thought you said you wanted to go downstairs and make me a nice mug of hot choclolate" (he never said that, my way of asking him nicely to do me a favor, lol)

Jason: "Dang, I just got into bed, come on!"

Shani: "Also, I thought you wanted to try that thing you whispered into my ear this morning"

Jason runs downstairs to make a hot cup of choco, lol

i don't know if u all remember, but a couple of weeks, i was saying i sent my mother-in-law and niece birthday cards, and i put cash in it. well, i am happy to report that the MIL has received her card with cash in tact. niece has yet to receive hers, but i am not too much worried about hers, she is only 2, and i only sent her 10 bucks. mil, i sent more money, so that was the one i was most worried over :dancing:

In all honesty, a lot of people are applying to grad school because they cannot find a job. But we are not a repository of failed workers. That's when my evil ways come in at this point of the game. this is what I am right now checking for: say Nagi graduated 13 years ago and is now applying for her PhD in Sexual History of Japan.

1. What was her BA in? grades? location? time to completion?

2. Did she do any type of research while an undergrad? (if not, she is likely fvcked)

3. Has she actively written #######, visited, read, etc.- Can she write like an academic? (see statement of purpose)

4. Has her work in those 13 years since graduation been related to Sexual History at all?

5. WHO are her academic references? What do they say? Did she actually worked for them or was she just another student? Is the letter proforma or actually thought through?

6. Blah blah blah.

Yeah, it is elitist and stringy - so is academic life. For those who don't like it, there's always technical colleges that would love to take their tuition money. Or there's Bill Graham's/Jerry Falwell's "universities"

**breathes**

so you discriminate against those who worked to pay for school?

guess if someone didn't have a handout and actually "earned" their degree ... you'd ** 'em ...

 noob. It is a much more complex process than that. But you bet people that got an honors double major from U of Illinois at Urbana will get much more leverage than someone who transferred to 4 colleges in a 7 year span and ended up barely graduating form a crappy school. Absolutely.

as far as fvkcing people that worked for their degree.... puhleaze.

That is interesting Len. Based upon your criteria above it would seem that your university is more of a 'research university' with a lot of funding for said-research. Is this correct? I'm interested because often times 'research universities' are criticized for not being 'teaching universities'...but...in my experience I would have a difficulty in making this correlation because I know research and learning are obviously linked, for students that truly want to learn.

HEY NOW! Careful...one of my degrees (the bachelor of science in religion) is from Liberty University, which was started by Jerry Falwell . I have to admit, being a Catholic at that University was FUN because they always thought I was :lol: In truth though, it is a great universityIF and ONLY IFyou are seeking a good bachelor-level-only-degree in 'Square One Christianity'. But, from my opinion, it can't compare to a secular institution when it comes to the sciences / mathematics / etc. The Bishop realizes the need to keep one foot squarely planted in both worlds (I have a BS of BA from A&M also, from when I was a young Bishop ).

Back to the point of research though, I do agree that at the Master's Level, research is the cornerstone. I don't really see how people can get a Master's degree if they can't pass your checklist above, especially from the research perspective. For my Masters in Theology (NO WAY I would go to Liberty for a Higher Degree ...I went running back to a Catholic University), 70%+ has been research based, and the majority of independent research (as you well know) so research skills are absolutely critical to success at the Master's Level and beyond.

Peace to you! MBishopM

Don't squeeze, just ignore it and don't tough it... it's a blind one! if you squeeze it you'll make it worse and there might be a scar afterwards!
