Do you have a World Market by you? They have a wonderful coffee - I think it's called Amalfi Coast Espresso Roast. It is delicious. I believe it only costs $7.99 for a 24 oz bag, which I find to be a pretty reasonable price for coffee. Also, Eight O'Clock Bean is fantastic and it is always on sale here - BOGO Free. :D

No, no World Market here :(

Yes, 8 o'clock coffee... NY roast. I've had that before, it's yummy....good idea! Thanks :)

One thing I miss about MX is being able to stop in pretty much any corner and have a taco or something equally delish

Man! Isn't that the truth Sister! I LOVED the fact that you could go to all-night taco huts on the street corners all over Mexico, the city. I LOVED that! It is the same way in Thailand, sans taco y con thaifood....but...same difference....it really is the SVKC that there is nothing like this in the USA...

In that way...we are so boring here

I need to take AAm to MX city...she'd love it!...or to Monterrey...I spent two months there too...those mountains are the most AWESOMENEZZ! :wow: :wow: :wow:

Good morning Commies!! Just read the conversation about budgeting last night... I must confess I'm sometimes an ####### penny pincher and sometimes I splurge... I have no problem shopping at Goodwill or Macy's, lol For groceries though we mostly buy fresh produce and always only buy stuff that's on sale/special, as that stuff is usually what's in season and fresh anyways... When it comes to packaged stuff I definetely make use of the Buy One Get One deals and use a coupon on top of that if I can find one (usually print them from the internet or sunday newspapers if I have the time)... I just don't see why not really... if I am gonna use the stuff anyways eventually and can save too, I'm not gonna take a few dollars out of my wallet and toss it on the ground and walk a way, hell no! Also our entertainment is very cheap as we like to do outdoorsy stuff like play tennis, mountain bike, hang on the beach etc. We do go out to eat once a week for breakfast and max once or twice for dinner with friends but even then I have coupons sometimes (Entertainment book) and because we eat very healthy we like to also mostly prepare our meals from scratch every day... Movies, Bowling, Indoor skating is just around the corner from us and we know when their Buy One Get One Free days are or when the tickets are cheap, usually before the weekend, so that's when we go...

Even when I get my nails done I look out for when my two favorite salons have coupons/deals and use it... Hairsalon however I get off only with a student discount, but I've been going to the same one for years so they give me a good deal and free blow-outs every so often... I take the dogs to get groomed every other month, doing it in between myself...

It's not like we're poor or anything, I think we live very well, and can afford to take trips etc. but we're definetely conscious about not overspending and saving especially since we want to buy a new house soon... I do think it has a lot to do with upbringing though, my dad has always taught us the value of money and we always had to "earn" our allowances and never got crazy lavish gifts for no good reason - even though he could afford it, so it's ingrained in me to be a saver rather than a splurger...

Good morning, Shani!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

btw all tips for being smarter with money are very much appreciated.

Don't carry any cash in your wallet. My wife says I need to always have a minimum of $50 in my wallet...but I have found that if I do that then the $50 'mysteriously' disappears...like with a beer at the local pub, etc... But, if I don't keep cash in my wallet, then it never disappears

But last week my wife wanted me to stop and buy her an apple juice at the 7-11...and I didn't have a dollar to do it...and she said, "I told you so to keep $50!"...

No, dear. Food for the entire month.

Ya...when I was single my monthly food bill was <$100 as well. Now, I spend much more than that...but...its worth it with Chef AAm...

The carrying cash in your wallet, now I have a funny story... Hubby and I wanted to go drop off a DVD and stop at the grocery store to pick up fish for dinner, get to the store and we both realize we forgot our wallets... one assuming the other has theirs, since we have a joint account this makes sense, lol... so we get there and now we have a problem cause we're STARVED... what happened? Ended up phoning the Thai restaurant and ordering a $40 dinner, going home to pick up the cash and then the dinner... sheezz! see if only we had some cash on us we could've just bought the fish and gone home... $40 is about half the price we spend on groceries a week here...

Last night, spent $110 on groceries, saved $50 odd ;-)

This is good :) Saving is always good. I have to start looking at the circulars to figure out where I'm buying what today. I have a new blackberry app for my shopping lists  Luis thinks I'm completely insane. Oh well at least I don't play Texas Hold 'Em or Brick Breaker all day on it.

Natty... mine are almost 5 years old. It does get easier, trust me. Right now for example they're battling each other at Wii tennis and haven't spoken to me in about 40 minutes  I found 2-3 years old to be really hard but once they hit 4 it just got a lot easier.

They will fight a lot though, but they're brothers so that's expected.

we already get some battles. we are now buying toys in pairs ... cause if there is only one ... it can get ugly

Don't do that!!! Unless they really need two, because otherwise they will always say mine, mine, mine to everything and you will go completely broke, insane and out of your mind. We're just finally getting over that now. They have learned that sometimes there is only one toy and that's it and they have to share it and that's the bottom line.

These two even fight over cups, they somehow know (even if it's identical) which one is theirs.

Argh.. I'm getting annoyed with VJ'ers advising new members that it's OK to AOS from VWP even when the OP is considering CR-1 route... no big deal... #######??

My family comes to visit on the VWP, these people misusing it by getting married and AOS on then making it seem like it's common and no problem and advising others to do the same is driving me nuts... I would not want the VWP to go away because of this now seemingly "common" misuse...
