I am trying to help a friend put together his K1 package and he was born out of wedlock so his mother didnt write his fathers name on his offical birth certificate... he doesnt know his fathers name either...so on his birth cert he only have his mothers name there... fathers name is blank...

What can he put on his G-325a under fathers name? can he just put none?

Will this be a problem???

Thanks!

Don't ever leave anything blank on these forms. Obviously he has a father, so leaving it blank will only result in an RFE. He simply does not know the identity of his father therefore 'unknown' would fit in this situation.

good luck.

answer "unknown" Note that the G-325a asks for parent info "if known" Always answer the G-325a to the best of your ability but do nor be afraid to answer "none" or "unknown" if that is the case

My husband's father's name is not on his BC either so we put UNKNOWN. It was fine - no RFE. Other couples have done the same thing
