I have a harder time listing foods I DON'T like.

Though, the first time I ate one, thought it was absolutely disgusting. Tzatziki wasn't exactly a taste acquired overnight for me.

Tzatziki? Where's the tzatziki in that photo? It looks like it could be a souvlaki. Though it's actually captioned as a donair - similar, yet different.

Tzatziki is a yoghurt/garlic/cucumber concoction which you can smother onto a souvlaki if you so choose:

Souvlaki is actually the kebabs, meaning small souvla, or speared meat. Gyro souvla, most often called gyro, is the bread wrapped in a cone shape with sliced souvla in it. Some people put tzaziki in their gyro.

I would call the above shawarma.

My only challenge is finding P.A.N precooked white corn arepa flour to keep my wife and daughter happy. Finding an arepa maker isn't easy either. Was able to get a local Mexican store to handle the flour for us, but they went out of business, so ordered a case of it from Orlando, FL of all places, price was right, but shipping practically cost more than the flour. Really made me appreciate our low distribution cost for food, have no idea how that Mexican store got it so cheap. I see only one package left, time to reorder.

I did find an arepa maker here, but almost impossible, but did buy a spare one in Venezuela, wife was proud of me, as I talked down the store owner on the price and even got a better break by paying him with US dollars. Ironically, these are made by Oster, an American company with products made in China, but they don't distribute that product here.

Just about anything else my wife and daughter are accustomed to, can find here plus a lot of other stuff that is not available in their home country. But that arepa flour drives me nuts. That is the only food item in Venezuela that is cheap, 17 US bucks for a small jar of peanut butter? You got to be kidding. So when I am down there, eat arepas.

My wife and I love Korean BBQ (Bulgogi)

Quite possibly the best food other than a Baconator and definitely the very best "foreign" food ever.

I fell in love with Bulgogi about 18 years ago, then had some mad dash with my friends to find 'where it's served' in Houston. Not an easy dish to prepare, but..

these days, is everywhere, many more Korean shops open these days, and is other 'Korean' area of town, too. So - coincidence maybe? - I emailed my bulgogi brothers - we're gonna do a 'drive and die' next saturday, an all Day Bulgogi fest (if I don't go to Saltillo, MX by then ) ..
