It was an attempted hate crime and a terrorist attack by a tree. I'll alert the media! There must be other trees out there planning to do the same thing!

 it's a republican plot.!

You know, I think I did hear the phrase Allahu Akbar just before it fell :o :o :o

It was a muslim suicide terrorist eucalyptus tree. Fortunately only the terrorist died. We need to notify Fox News AND pass laws banning the ownership of assualt rifles by trees and shrubs, and just for good measure we will throw in that no one can own any firearm anywhere, and we should nationalize healthcare in case terrorist tress actually start hitting people and who will pay for that? Gosh, Cleo, this IS a blessing in disguise!

Eucalyptus is by some considered a dangerous tree due to its brittleness and it tends to shed limbs easily. In California we are replacing them with live oaks etc.

WHAT?????!!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!! Koalas eat only Eucalyptus leaves, it is TRUE, I saw it on the discovery Channel. What about the KOALAS!!!!!!!! It is bad enough their iceberg homes are melting and...oh NM that was Polar bears, I get them confused because the Polar bear population has increased by 5 times since 1970 yet they are endangered while we brutalize so-called "dangerous trees" and wipe out those cute, cuddly Koala bears with no thought to the future...YOU STOP THAT. :crying:

Doesn't sound weird to me, if you ever walked through a virgin forest, almost impossible to navigate with all the fallen trees and the terrain is exceedingly rough. Selective cutting is used, trees grow then die, good to cut them down before they fall. This tree could have been old, diseased, or hit by lightning, neighbor and I had to cut down three old tree where the base was rotting out before they fell on our houses, have to keep an eye on them.

It's a dog eat dog world in the woods, each tree is fighting for sunlight, shade out the smaller trees and they don't survive until the mommy dies, falls down, so the young ones can grow. They are also fighting for their share of CO2 they need to survive.

A forest is just like a garden, needs proper care, with fire breaks, people around here that objected for cutting a path for a new power line are nuts and don't know a damn thing about forest care. Reason why your tree fell down, somebody was not doing their job. Raping a forest by strip cutting is tantamount to dropping a nuclear bomb on a country, now that is nasty.
