Campbell Brown calls out the WH hypocrisy over Fox NEWS

Campbell fails to admit that CNN also has a liberal bias, but hey, it's a first step toward some sanity in regard to the whiny White House v. Fox NEWS.

-Do you think that Fox News is biased?

"well of course they're biased"

-Do you also think that MSNBC is biased

"Well actually, I don't want to Generalize that Fox is biased or that another station is biased." (so please edit out my previous direct answer).

"We're going to look at it on a case by case basis" :wow: So, are we on our way to censorship here? Is there a czar for that yet?

So, just mute the sound, and listen to NPR, while enjoying the visuals on FNC. If you don't like the ticker, than some strips of duct tape should take care of that. Now, that is fair and balanced.

Or even better ... watch Gwen Ifill on the Lehrer Newshour, and listen to Michele Norris on NPR. Sexy, sultry, AND incisive, intelligent and informative. FTW!!

Funny how shes making Fox not news on her/his real news show.

I am new here, but I am tired of clip and paste opinions. This is lazy and sophomoric. please itemize and elucidate your opinions...I would enjoy a discussion.

Agreed. I've only ventured into this forum a few times when I was bored. I tried to engage in an honest debate, presenting facts I thought were relevant. What I got in response were smug responders who made quips and one-liners, and then patted each other on the back as if they actually produced a counter argument. I think "sophomoric" is giving them too much credit.

I've been on other forums where discussions about current issues was on topic, and they had strict rules about discussion and debate. When referring to printed articles you could only quote relevant sections (not the entire article), and you were required to always provide the source (to avoid problems with plagiarism and fair use). Some have requirements that the source had to be accessible online to all forum members. You were also required to give an opinion or comment on whatever you quoted (again, to avoid problems with fair use, as well as accusations you were just posting to stir $h.t). The best rule was that the use of any logical fallacy in the discussion would bring down the wrath of the entire forum on you. Hit and run one-liners are the online equivalent of tagging freeway signs with a can of spray paint, and ad hominem attacks would quickly get you banned.

When you force people to actually discuss the issue without resorting to infantile antics, it raises the level of the debate several notches. It also makes it clear who is able to actually defend their position, and who is not.

Jim, I understand you, but I think that's not really the point of VJ OT.

It isn't a well regulated forum for the kind of discussions you have in mind, and it shouldn't be thought of as such.

What it is, kind of, is a no holds barred agora of ideas. Some sane and reasoned. Some lunatic. It's certainly not for everyone. No one would blame you for deciding not to bother.

I enjoy it, in moderation, especially when it's NOT heavily moderated. If I have one pet peeve about it, it is in fact the moderation. I can accept the nastiness and kookiness of the place far more readily if I don't have to accept that someone is trying to play sheriff.

I like to joke around. I also like to post articles I find interesting. Sometimes they gain traction in discussion, more often they don't. I jump in and respond on threads I find interesting. You can pick and choose which topics, and which people, to respond to. It's a pretty wacky community, but I find it serves a purpose.

Bill O'Reilly ... roll of toilet paper. Although not sure why he was selling the latter, had his face printed on each sheet. But I guess anything to make a couple of extra bucks.

Nope, anything to kiss your #######.

Point is, how can you take anything Bill says seriously when he closes his program every night trying to sell you trinkets? Oh, and reads e-mails from people stating how great he is. The guy is an egomaniac. He does read one negative e-mail, then insults the writer. Should say, the spin starts here.

I was waiting to see if you or anyone else would catch the error in my last statement because then I'd tell if you knew what we're talking about. Obviously from the answer you provided you know nothing about this topic and need to see your way out the conversation.

Joe is an expert on this subject and everyone else is a moron. Want proof? Just ask him!

Well, to be fair, I'd say the majority of individuals on this board feel they're an "expert" on just about every subject that comes along. Maybe the site itself creates that sort of atmosphere. After all, VJ is about the DIY mentality when it comes to immigration. Why hire a professional when you apparently know more and can do better than they can? :P

Joe simply cannot grasp the fact that we all agree that all media is biased in some form or another. Yes, MSNBC and CNN are left leaning, but Fox is blatantly right leaning. He simply cannot or will not admit that Fox news is anything but fair and balanced. You joe seem to be the one towing the party line on this one.

That's what I've been saying all along!

Oh yeah I know that symbol(your avatar). I used to play sierra games all the time, my first was the original Space Quest.

VW as always you are dancing around the truth & failing to admit it. Numerous "liberals" (which in your world means everyone who isn't far right) stated that media bias goes both ways (e.g. Fox slants right & MSNBC slants left). It is a painfully simple truth that smacks most people in the face.

Pay attention. If you think I don't think Fox leans right, you haven't been reading my posts. I like Fox because their view isn't obscured by their lips on Obama's azz. I'm also aware that just about every other news source, including CNN, leans left.

They say they have news and opinion. Those of us who watch it know that.
