I bought a car!

I'm very excited I can't believe I just bought a car! I got a 2009 Nissan Versa S 1.8 hatchback, manual transmission, manual everything else too lol but I only paid out the door including all the fee's even the hidden last minute we forgot to tell you about this $300 charge.. I paid about $13,500 everything all in I even got financed by Nissan for about 6.77%!

I haven't driven a manual in a while so I've gotten lazy to the gears and will have to get used to changing gears again but I'm shocked how much car that money bought. That wee car is massive inside, really big in there. It actually feels like half car half crossover if that makes any sense. It sits high up and has a ton of room inside but isn't a big car. Well next to the Ford Escort I just got rid of it feels like a limo!

So even with a limited credit file and with the credit crunch still in full swing I suppose it is possible to still get credit out there.

OMG! I think it's too expensive with no power windows. 2010 models are the same price as the 2009? Just looked it up.

Really.. did those prices include the tax, tag, title, dealer fees, finance charges.. etc? Because I had an employee discount code that took the initial invoice price and gave me another 3% off it then the added the discounts.. then added all the other fee's on top. They are sneaky the way they play the numbers but I still think I came away with a decent deal.

Nevermind. The base price is 13100. Fees and taxes will make it close to 17,000.

Congrats... Did the dealer arrange the financing for you?

Yes the dealer actually beat my banks offer which was 7.9% the dealer gave me 6.77%.. I'm sure he made cash on it but I saved a bit on it. Anyway in a few months I'll refinance it with my bank if I can get a better rate when I've more credit history under my belt. I'm happy because I walked in with a 98 Escort that basically took a giant $hit on me today. It sounded like something exploded inside the engine I had it looked at and was told I had something beating on the head on and off very random. My mechanic said it was on borrowed time so I said screw it and just traded it in to be done with it.

Yes that sounds about the same type of money I was being asked for out there before I did any research.. I got about $1,000 off for my escort, another $1250 customer cash back then the employee discount code I used so I didn't do all that badly. All in I'm very happy, I would have liked the power option to be honest but I didn't want to pay extra for it plus you have to have splash guards installed, cruse installed just to get the power locks/doors? Add about another $1,200 to the price! Ah well I was cheap this time but times are hard so lol.. maybe for the next car!

Careful about refinancing. Some loans require you to pay all the interest that would be due if the loan went to term.

Precomputed Loan

The Rule of 78s deals with precomputed loans, loans whose finance charge is calculated before the loan is made. Finance charge, carrying charges, interest costs, or whatever the cost of the loan may be called can be calculated with simple interest equations, add-on interest, an agreed upon fee, or any disclosed method. Once the finance charge has been identified, the Rule of 78s is used to calculate the amount of the finance charge to be rebated (forgiven) in the event that the loan is repaid early, prior to the agreed upon number of monthly payments. It should be understood that with precomputed loans, a borrower not only owes the lender the principal amount borrowed, but the borrower owes the finance charge as well. If $10,000 is lent and the precomputed finance charge is $3,000, the borrower owes the lender $13,000 at the time the loan is made, whereas a simple interest borrower owes the lender only the $10,000 principal and monthly interest on the unpaid principal.

Wholly #######! You need a new car! My limit would be around 100k. When the car reach that, I'd say replace the engine or trade it for a new one.

It sounds as though you got a great deal, at the perfect time.

I must admit, you are very thorough in your research. Well done.

Enjoy your new ride!!!

Thanks, I think for me at this point in time this little car is perfect. When I say little I mean it feels like twice the car I was driving! lol I had read about the interest rates and having to pay them back, I'll be careful with refinancing thanks!
