Hello my fellow VJ members,

I have paid the AOS bill ($70U.S. dollars) and have printed the cover sheet. I now find myself a bit confused and lost  because I have read in the forums here, that once the NVC shows your AOS bill as "paid" status, they will send the I-864 package home with instructions. However, when I printed the cover sheet it clearly states that I just needed to follow the "Affidavit of Support" instructions link and proceed from there...Which one is it? Wait for something to come via U.S. mail or follow the instructions on the cover sheet?

I have printed the I-864EZ, which is the form I qualify for and have most of the docs required but I just need some guidance. I forgot to call the NVC to ask them myself today, so I thought of asking my VJ family members here and hope I can get an answer tonight. I don't want to make a mistake, please help.

Another question about this process is, once the NVC receives my I-864EZ package, will their next step be: billing me the Immigrant Visa application process of $400 U.S. dollars?

Thanking you in advance,

Lizz and Mohamed

You do not have to wait on the snail mail. Just follow the link and do the I-864EZ if you qualify. To know when to pay the IV fee, just visit the same login area on the state dept. website (just like AOS bill) and you will see the status. P.S. You can send off the AOS package on its own with supporting docs. e.g. tax returns for at least 3 years etc. or you can wait on the IV package to send it off with supporting docs e.g. DS-230, marriage certi. birth certi of both, police certi, 2 passport size picture of benificiary etc.

Are you sure I can send the AOS & IV package together? I thought that we had to send the AOS package first before we can move on to the next step the IV fee??? I do have the AOS package along with most of the supporting docs like: 6months of check stubs, copies of the last 3yrs. of income tax returns, employer letter(waiting to receive it), bank statements and/or assests???

Please clarify. I have also been checking the NVC website to see if I can pay the IV fee and to date, there is no change. I wonder, if that perhaps me holding on to the AOS package this is what is causing the delay in them not sending me the IV fee???? HELP!

Thank you.

They will not send you anything, follow the link that they provided at the bottom of the AOS receipt, download all the required forms and gather all the required documents then send it to NVC.

In our case, because we have an atty the AOS bill and IV bill were generated at the same time.

P.S. I just called the automated system with the NVC and they are telling me that they received my AOS payment 10-15-09 and that the I-864 packet will arrive in the next several weeks that if 6 weeks have passed, to call them back??? Why does it then state on the cover sheet that I can follow the instructions of the Affidavit of Support link??? This makes no sense to me!!! Can I print out the I-864EZ and proceed anyway or must I wait for the NVC to send me their package? Please help us...Thanking you in advance.

Ignore the AVR, somehow it just leave you confused and frustrated if you will believe what the AVR will tell you.

Print out the forms and gather all the required documents then send it to NVC. It is clear that the information written on the site where you prin out the AOS cover sheet that you follow the link provided below.

Send your AOS package. As soon as your DS3032 is accepted you will be able to pay the $400 IV Bill. After that you can send the DS 230 package. Some people send I-864 and DS 230 together to avoid any false RFEs and so that they receive everything at the same time.

agree with this. in my case, i had paid the AOS fee first but ended up sending that packet after the IV one due to some petty issues. i had gotten a letter from NVC about this, but it was sent to me the day that they received my AOS packet so they told me to just forget it. don't stress, you'll be fine. just get both packets together, print the cover barcode pages, make your own cover letters as well, put everything in a nice, neat pile, and send it off (certified of course...well, up to you, but i like to make sure that they got my stuff) and you should be fine. just act fast.

good luck

PS You don't have to send the petitioner's birth certificate-just the beneficiary's! You've already done that. The DS-230 package only has to do with the beneficiary.

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!
