Hmmm..I've been holding back the urge to call them, but I think I might give them a call today anyway. See if we can get some more information.

Maybe I'll demand waffles and pancakes while we're waiting! ;)

Don't have time to go back and check, but somewhere on VJ I remember reading that unless you are beyond the published process time, you're outta luck trying to get any info.

However, if offering food works, I'm in!

Let's order up a bunch of McMuffins and some large quantities of caffeinated beverages!!!

Keep 'em awake and working 24/7!

My German love went into a Starbucks and ordered five shots of espresso in one cup.

They were a little amazed but gave it to him. Cha-ching$$$

He drank it at (4 p.m.) and still slept like a baby. Don't know how he does it!

Hey Bacon, aren't you the one with the sister-wedding planner? How's that going??

I have three sisters, and I haven't decided if I even want to tell them until after the "I-do's" are over!

Anyone else out there with wedding plans? Come on, we need some diversions to keep us occupied.

If you are being impatient, then you are not the only one ;)

It seems like they are taking longer than usual with the approval process....

Hmmm, wedding plans? Well, ours aren't exceedingly inspiring, to be honest:

Shortly after he gets here we'll get married in a little Justice of the Peace ceremony in the gov't office (you can't beat a wedding ceremony that costs $30!) and have some friends over for drinks and fancy hors d'oeuvres or something. I'm really hoping that we can do the wedding over my friends' spring break, because 1) they're wonderful photographers and 2) I haven't seen them since moving to FL. Or, if it falls on my mom's spring break (which is either the week before or week after.... oh man, that over-lapping Good Friday weekend would be good....) then she can come down (she's a teacher). We're doing it this was so that I can keep my meager savings for the AOS filing fee and to support him until he gets a work authorization. We plan on saving money and being able to properly plan a ceremony/reception thing for family and friends in a couple of years....

So we're going super-low-key, but I did buy myself a new dress from Anthropologie, because hey, I love their stuff, and I know I'll probably never be able to justify clothes from there again :innocent: .

Anyone else with something a bit more inspiring than that load?

Yes, I am which is probably why I'm freaking out as much as I am. We started all of the planning during the mass approval so we set the date for June 6th. So she's calling me almost every day wanting to know whether we got the NOA2 so we can start sending out invites and things like that.

If this keeps up though we're going to have to change the date which is not going to be fun at all.

My best thing about marrying someone from another country.......when they embarrass you in front of family and friends you can say...."he's a foreigner, that's normal behavior for Aussies, you'll have to excuse him". And since they've never been there they believe me. :P

I'm doing the full-blown fancy wedding. I was married when I was 19 and I ended up with five people from his family who I had just met that week at my wedding. I never got the big to-do and my family was really mad that we did it so quick that they couldn't be there.

So.....I'm having mine at a country club with 50 to 100 guests and my sister is making all of the decorations. We're even renting a honeymoon suite at a fancy hotel. :P

Hence, the wedding freak-out over NOA2. :P

Hey, so spring break....isn't that in April? Is that when you're hoping to have the wedding?

Yeah, it's end of March/beginning of April. So it's pretty much a pipe dream unless we get our approval, uh, today or so...

I think the consulate in NZ is pretty good about scheduling interviews in a timely fashion, though. I mean, in a country with only ~4 million people, there can't be THAT big of a line for people waiting for visas to come to the US, right?

I wouldn't think it'd be that bad. Aussie is usually a month and they have 20 million. So a fourth of that would be you which would be a week. Though they could still be slackers.

Quick question ! Scheduling for an interview usually depends on a country too ? I' m from a country where less than 2 million people live and almost none to some immigrate to US. It shouldn' t take months ? !

I think a lot of it just depends on the embassy, you know?

If you go here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?cfl=

you can see what other VJ users average wait time has been from the time the consulate receives their file until their interview.
