Hello to the Board

My fiancée lives in Guangzhou, China

I mailed our petition July 4th and they received it on the 8th at the NSC. I've yet to receive a case number how long does that take. When I receive a case number is that considered the NOA1?

I wish I would have found this site prior to filling. In any event after reading the assembly instructions posted here the only items missing from my petition are; No header page, and I didn't write any dates on the pictures. I did include a copy of the stamps in my passport and a bunch of copied receipts for hotels and tourists attractions we visited plus a copy of all of my flight stubs.

I'm unsure of how the IMBRA process works. Neither of us has a record. I had a certified copy of her Birth, Being Single and no record of crime from her birth to when I was in China; however I included no transcripts of my clean slate. Was I supposed to acquire some kind of proof of no record? Also we didn't go through a marriage broker but met by pure chance on match.com. Was I supposed to have some kind of proof of our meeting. I did include our statements of intent. So my question boils down to will I be mailed an RFE for my crime record even if there is no record or proof of our meeting?

Thanks for any guidance you may provide.

Thank you for filling out timeline. That is a big help for everyone

Your petition will be forwarded to the california service center as NSC is no longer processing I-129F. It has been taking from 2 to 3 weeks at the outside before you will get your NOA1

Did you use the new I-129F form or the old one with the 5/23/06 cancellation date. If you used the new one you have already answered the IMBRA questions. If you used the old one, expect to get either an RFE (request for evidence) or the whole package back.

Thanks dwar49

Bummer, disappointed hearing about NSC, oh well. why couldn't they have sent Ohio's to Vermont, they have a better track record.

I used the current form that says expires 12/31/06, so I should have complied with IMBRA, cool.

Clare ,

I wouldn't worry about no header page .. we didn't include one in our petition, we did date the pictures on the back with pen (i have heard of RFE's for this reason - a person can write any date they wish ) for us it caused no problem .. it's all up too the person processing your case to decide if you have included enough proof of your meeting .. good old USCIS ;) Bst of luck with everything !

Hello and welcome to VJ, and good luck with your journey! You will not receive your case number from the USCIS. You will get a "Receipt Number" however, and that number you can use to register for online updates from the USCIS.

When your case does get approved, and goes to the NVC, they will assign a case number and send it on to Guangzhou. Again, you can use your USCIS Receipt Number to contact the NVC and get your DOS case number, if it has been assigned at that time.

Regardless, you've got a wait in front of you before that will happen. Untill then, just relax and be patient.

Ya baby, I just received our NOA1 in the mail. Received 7/11 and Notice date of 7/12.

I went to the USCIS status page and loged in and turned on email notification. Is that how everybody knows when they're touched? Will I get an email everytime they touch my petition?

Thanks for all the well wishing! My baby in China is elated that were off and running.
