Hello fellow vj'ers! It was nice of all the people who responded to my hello. My fiance and I were both (at our own homes) looking at VisaJourney today and it really made us happy seeing all of the people who have had such good luck in this process. I will be sending off my I-129f form here very soon. I'm thinking I may send it off by Friday. My question is this.....can someone help me in some of the specifics of the I-129f form? I have an example sitting right in front of me. I got it from this site and another one from ***removed***. This is where my problem is coming though. I have read almost this entire site and the other one I just mentioned! I've been on the USCIS site and have been watching YouTube videos as well. And now after all of that I've gotten so much information in my head that it seems to be overloaded. I'm only asking for help because I'm really ready to do this. Neither me nor my fiance have any experience in something like this so if anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated. However most of the questions I have I have a good guess what the answer is. I just wanted to see if someone could tell me, "this is how I did it"! I promise to help other noobs with any information you can give me and be a steady member of the VJ community. Thanks everybody!

Part A:

On question ten when it says, "My citizenship was acquired through" it has two choices under it, a box asking for a certificate number, a box beside the word parents two questions asking if you have a certificate of citizenship in your name and if yes when and where it was issued.

Where on the birth certificate is your number of certificate? Is it the number on the top right of the document? Should it be a 10 digit number? A seven digit number? And what do I do if all I have is a copy? Also having to do with something else it asks for a copy of the front and back. Mine doesn't have anything on the back besides security document watermarks.

What is the box that just says parents for? Is it asking if you got your citizenship through your parents? I'm guessing that is what it is and that I would leave it blank if "Birth in the U.S." was my answer.

What is a certificate of citizenship? Is it something you would get if you were a citizen but not born in the U.S.?

Part B:

On question 3a it asks for the place of birth for my fiance. It asks for the town of city and then in another, smaller box it asks for State/Country. Do I put in the state or country or both? If I'm supposed to put both which I believe I'm supposed to do what do I do if I can't fit it in the box? It is Tehran/Iran. But the only way it will fit in the box is if I put TehranIran. Will this be acceptable?

On question 9 should I leave it blank of put the word "none" in the box?

For question twelve how do you fill out the boxes for arrival/departure date and date of arrival and date authorized to say expired? If I put in the box above all of that that she is not currently in the U.S. do I just leave it blank? I was thinking that was a "no-no".

On question 15 when they ask for the phone number that she has in Canada do I put it like this? 011 1 555 555 5555? Will they ever call that number? The reason I ask is because my fiances family since finding out what we are wanting to do has been extremely hard on her. They won't let her work so she can't have money to get her own place. They tell her to leave me or they will kick her out in the streets. They call her names and recently her father said that he would actually take her life! We have decided to keep this all under the rug until things start to blow over a bit. If that's even possible. I try to be there for her as much as I can but I don't make a whole lot of money and flying to Toronto takes a big chunk out of my check everytime. It'd be so much easier if I could just go visit all the time....Ugh, the call worries me.

BIG QUESTION!!!!! On question 16 it asks if my fiances native alphabet uses other than Roman letters, write her name and address in the native alphabet. She lives in Canada. She speaks and write English. But she is formerly from Iran and can also speak Farsi. Does she need to sign this in Farsi? Does she write in her current address in Farsi too? If not do we just keep it blank? Geez, I don't expect a lot of repliers to this I know I'm making it too long! I'm sorry.

If you can help me I'd be so greatly appreciative. I promise I will pass this knowledge onto anybody else I ever in my life hear ask. Whoever takes the time to respond to this let me know if you could answer just a couple of the same type of questions for the g-325a. Like I said before I have read so many different websites now and heard so many different supposed truths that I've gotten everything jumbled in my head. I know not to take anything as the exact truth without looking it up but I don't even know where to go now that I've read the whole site and am still a little confused. Thanks guys.....anything you can give me I will appreciate so much!

If you were born in the U.S., you don't have a certificate number and you just leave that blank. That phone number should be fine (that's how I did it for my UK fiance) and I haven't heard of USCIS on these forums of calling the fiance.

If she isn't currently in the U.S. you don't need to put down any dates of arrival/departure. Is she a citizen of Canada? I'll leave the other questions for some more experienced folks.

Another suggestion is to do a search through this forum for some of your questions; that's how I got many of my answers.

Best of luck to you both!

First - take a look at the example forms, they will help you with most of your questions

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/Form-I-129F.pdf

Your citizenship was acquired through birth? Then check that box - obviously you won't have a certificate number, that is for citizenship acquired through naturalization

If you can't fit it into the box (her place of birth) print of the document and write the state/country in the box so it fits (use black pen)

NEVER leave any questions blank. Use N/A or none where appropriate. If she is not in the US, but N/A

I honestly think USCIS is WAY too busy to be placing calls to beneficiaries. Put whatever number she is current at, I'm sure it will be fine

As for the signature, if she was born in Iran, I guess you'd have her write her name in Farsi (just assuming here) - but all her other info would be in English

Good luck

You were born in the USA, you do not have certificate of naturalization. Certificate of naturalization is only for people born outside of the USA. If you are less than 18 years old when your parent are getting citizenship, that's when you acquire citizenship thru parents. Anyway, this is only for you info, as I said earlier you were born in the USA and you do not have certificate of naturalization so check birth in the USA and leave everything else blank.

What is the box that just says parents for? Is it asking if you got your citizenship through your parents? I'm guessing that is what it is and that I would leave it blank if "Birth in the U.S." was my answer.

Correct

What is a certificate of citizenship? Is it something you would get if you were a citizen but not born in the U.S.?

Will this be acceptable?

Tehran is the capital city of Iran. So for town/city you would put Tehran, for state/contry Iran.

On question 9 should I leave it blank of put the word "none" in the box?

None

For question twelve how do you fill out the boxes for arrival/departure date and date of arrival and date authorized to say expired? If I put in the box above all of that that she is not currently in the U.S. do I just leave it blank? I was thinking that was a "no-no".

Blank

On question 15 when they ask for the phone number that she has in Canada do I put it like this? 011 1 555 555 5555? Will they ever call that number? It'd be so much easier if I could just go visit all the time....Ugh, the call worries me.

Does she have a cell phone? If she does than put cell phone number as her home phone number. My best friend went thru this process few years ago, USCIS never called, but the embassy called her job to check if she works there. So, you never know what they might do.

I asked my fiance to sign his name in native alphabet, why not, it's not gonna hurt your application :)

If you can help me I'd be so greatly appreciative. I promise I will pass this knowledge onto anybody else I ever in my life hear ask. take the advice from the Boss -> Born in the U.S.A. (just check birth in the U.S.)

Part B:

On question 3a it asks for the place of birth for my fiance. It asks for the town of city and then in another, smaller box it asks for State/Country. Do I put in the state or country or both? Will this be acceptable?

i would simply put "Tehran" because you would put "Iran" in the box in 3b. if you try to write both, the box will not display all the letters, which is a bigger problem. you could always go back and add it by hand after you print the form. (instructions say type or print LEGIBLY)

On question 9 should I leave it blank of put the word "none" in the box?

do not leave blank. depending on the question, use "N/A" or "none". in this case, "none"

For question twelve how do you fill out the boxes for arrival/departure date and date of arrival and date authorized to say expired? If I put in the box above all of that that she is not currently in the U.S. do I just leave it blank? I was thinking that was a "no-no".

if she is NOT currently in the U.S., just put N/A in the box for question #12. we only wrote N/A once and left the arrival #, date of arrival, and expiration date blank - N/A covers all of those.

On question 15 when they ask for the phone number that she has in Canada do I put it like this? 011 1 555 555 5555? Will they ever call that number? The reason I ask is because my fiances family since finding out what we are wanting to do has been extremely hard on her. They won't let her work so she can't have money to get her own place. sorry about the situation. family members can be tough to deal with - especially those who don't understand/agree with cross-cultural relationships. however, if the are abusive, THAT is a big problem, and i wouldn't recommend waiting for it to "blow over"

to my knowledge, uscis never called my fiancee. we listed her number as "+(country code)-(phone number) ie. +555-5555555)

Does she write in her current address in Farsi too? is she a citizen of canada or iran? if she is iranian with an iranian birth certificate but living in canada, then i would write her name in her native language, but write her address in english. if she is now a canadian citizen, then N/A everything. for more info, go to the example forms page - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=examples - they have examples of each form you'll need.

The certificate number box is only if you checked "Naturalization". They want the number of your certificate of naturalization. You were born in the US, so check "Birth in the U.S." and put "N/A" in the box.

The above two questions are related. Someone born abroad to one or more US citizen parents has a right to claim US citizenship. In this case, they would check the "Parents" box. If the US citizen parent registers the birth at a US consulate abroad, then that establishes the citizenship of the child, and nothing else usually needs to be done. However, if the US citizen parent did not register the birth, then the child may have to petition to have it's citizenship established. The result is a certificate of citizenship. Anyone who claims citizenship through a US citizen parent can apply for a certificate of citizenship, but it's often not necessary.

I don't know how Iran is divided into provinces. Is there a province or state called "Tehran"? If you can't fit something in the box then you can write it in by hand after printing the form. If it still won't fit, then provide an attachment page. Write "See attachment" in the box. When including attachments, USCIS asks that you write your full name and the form number at the top, and the applicable line number for each entry. They also ask that you sign the attachment page.

On question 9 should I leave it blank of put the word "none" in the box?

None.

For question twelve how do you fill out the boxes for arrival/departure date and date of arrival and date authorized to say expired? If I put in the box above all of that that she is not currently in the U.S. do I just leave it blank? I was thinking that was a "no-no".

I wrote "n/a" in the "He or she last arrived as a" box, the "Date of Arrival" box, and the "Date authorized stay expired" box. I left the I-94 number box blank.

It'd be so much easier if I could just go visit all the time....Ugh, the call worries me.

The "011" is not needed. This is the international prefix for dialing from the US. They can figure out that much. Country code is not necessary in Canada because you can dial a number from the US using only the area code and number. Write it just like you would write a number in the US: 123-456-7890. I had to provide the country code for Vietnam, but they don't have city codes or area codes. My fiancee's number looks like 84-123456789. I've never heard of USCIS calling a beneficiary. The consulate may do so, but even that is unusual. Approval of the family may be important in Iran, and the consulate may take that into account, but they aren't required to. The usually only consider what is normal by "local customs", and "local" in this case means Canada.

That said, do not take her father's threats lightly. Family honor is very big deal in Iran, as it is in most Muslim countries. If he thinks she is doing something to dishonor the family then she could be in very real danger. Please consider taking steps to get her somewhere where she will be safe.

BIG QUESTION!!!!! On question 16 it asks if my fiances native alphabet uses other than Roman letters, write her name and address in the native alphabet. She lives in Canada. Write the name in Farsi. The address is in Canada, so write it in English/French, however it is normally written in that part of Canada.

I agree. If there is any way to get her away from this, please do it. There are services she can access to get safe. PM me if you want, let me know what areas she's in, I've lived here all my life, might be able to help think of some ideas.

Good luck

Write the name in Farsi. The address is in Canada, so write it in English/French, however it is normally written in that part of Canada.

so does this mean that I need to fill out the form, send it to her to sign, and then have her send it back and me send it?

if she never uses farsi, EVER, do i still need to have her sign it?

I would put the name is it is listed, and in the language, listed on the birth certificate. If that is in Farsi then yes, you probably should have her sign it and send it back to you. If it is in English then you can probably list it.

Good luck.
