Case Completed at NVC but No News on Interview Date

My wife, an USC, applied for my immigration through 1-130. NVC completed our case on August 19, 2009. However, their operator told my wife that once the visa interview is scheduled, they will email her and her lawyer. Our interview will be held at the US Consulate at Bangladesh. Now it has been three weeks since NVC completed our case, but we have heard nothing from them about the interview date. Should we call the NVC now to ask about the interview date? Is it ok to call them (and bother them) or should we wait longer? Please guys your feedback will be helpful. Thanks and good luck on your visa journeys.

You can call NVC every day and bother them but that's not gonna change the fact they are scheduling interviews only the second week of each month (sometimes and the forth week but rare). So, you either have to pray you are lucky enough to get a date by the end of this week, or just wait. Sometimes it's not up to NVC to schedule a date for the following month but to the USEM in the foreign country. If the USEM is very busy, that's when interviews are not being scheduled right away for next month (Montreal, Canada is one of them). But good thing is that once you have a date scheduled, you'll receive an e-mail. Good luck and be patient, it's just one more step before the last step and the end of the process for now (until 2 years later ;) )

BTW, you don't have timeline.

I would say we'll probably hear something from NVC next week. My case was completed too last Sept 2 and until now, no single word from NVC. Hopefully we'll get an interview date next week. :)

My fiance will also have his interview in Dhaka (K-1). We got notice that our petition left NVC August 3 and only today (September 15) did I receive our Packet 3 from the Embassy in Dhaka (the letter was dated August 31). It seems to take about 1 month from NVC to get Packet 3 and another month from submitting packet 3 have the interview.

^^ Agreed, all you can do is wait. Interviews are dependant on the capacity of each individual consulate. Some book quickly, others not. We interviewed in Montreal and waited 6 weeks after NVC completion for an interview date and then another 6 weeks for the actual interview. We found waiting out that part of the process the most difficult but you will get here. Good luck!

  • 2 weeks later...

At last we received an email from the NVC today that my interview has been scheduled at the Dhaka consulate on November 9th 2009. Hurray... NVC complted the case on August 19, so it took them 37 days to schedule the interview. Now I can start preparing for it
