Called the passport agency today, they said the passport was mailed today, whereas I received a mail saturday telling me that my passport was sent, they gave me a tracking number, and when I tried to track it, it said the item was delivered on April 4 2008 somewhere in CA :blink::blink: ... after a couple of calls between usps and the passport agency i decided i couldn't do anything except to pray it's not lost or going to be delivered somewhere on planet Tattoine..

That is absolutely ridiculous! Your tracking number is for a previously delivered item? Come to think of it, the tracking numbers are worthless anyway. Mine shows that my item was picked up on September 18 - and it has disappeared into the USPS system ever since. If you have not received your passport a week from today contact both your local USPS and the passport office again. There are far too many passports and citizenship documents going 'missing' in the postal system. Since the envelopes are clearly marked US Passport Office, it is far too easy for some untrustworthy individual who has access to the mail to siphon them out of the system. I am convinced that is what happened to mine. It has been cancelled, but it was lost for 10 days before I gave up expecting it to show up and contacted the passport office - who immediately cancelled it when they learned it had been missing that long.

I do hope yours shows up very soon.

Thanks Kathryn, I will wait 2 more days to see if it gets delivered since I paid for overnight delivery, my only option after that would be to call and cancel. USPS tracking/service really is a joke compared to fedex/ups imho.

I am in Louisiana. I applied for an expedite and it was worth it. I down loaded the form online and overnighted it from the post office on Satuday, August 8th. On Friday morning August 14th, my mailman knocked on my door with my passport. My old passort arrived in the mail a week later.

So, 6 days from the post office to my mailbox.

Well, USPS tracking sent me an email this morning saying my passport arrived in Atlanta last night and was in our local post office this morning for delivery today. It was picked up in Arkansas on September 18 - scheduled to arrive September 23 (when the passport card and certificate did), was searched for on September 28 and cancelled by the Passport Office September 28th as suspiciously missing when the post office had no record of where it was since the 18th. It took 18 days -priority mail (2 to 3 day delivery Promised!) to go from Arkansas to Georgia. Skeptical me strongly suspects that whoever 'had' it discovered it had been cancelled and figured they might just as well return it to the system since it was now invalid. Anyway, it gets to go right back to the Missing and Stolen Passport division of the Passport office while I wait for the re-issued one to come by courier.

Oh, and yes, I will be filing another complaint with USPS - it seems the appropriate thing to do under the circumstances.

Hello Everyone,

As I discussed in my previous post, I mailed my passport the very same day after taking oath and updated the status with SSA as well [september 30, 2009]. Thanks jayde and KikiDough for the informarion. I opted for the expedited application process. I just check the status and it says that my passport has been mailed and will reach me soon. I hope that I will get it by tomorrow. I think for this expedite option has worked very well and I hope to get over with all this soon :):dance:

I received this message this evening...I am hoping that it gets delivered on time and without getting lost. I'm also rather worried about the certificate. It is sad and worrying to hear about so many people having trouble getting their passports and certificates delivered safely. :unsure:

"We have finished processing your passport, and it has been mailed to you.

Your passport application locator number is xxxxxxxxxx.

You requested delivery by regular mail. Passport Agencies use Priority Mail. This means you should receive your passport on or about 10/12/2009."

Hi everyone,

I got the same message as "kikidoug" regardin passport is mailed out and should receive it by 10/12/2009......

yep more concerned about the certificate.....

guess will keep the eyes open to get both items in hand any day now.....

Finally I have received my passport this morning...yaaayyyy... :dance: now waiting for the certificate. How do they send the certificate? through overnight delivery or the regular mail?..I hope I get it soon.
