hey there!!!

I read that after you move to the U.S and get married, it takes about three months before you can actually start working.

Would anyone know when you can starting working after you arrive in the U.S

As soon as you marry, submit your AOS and EAD paperwork and receive your EAD in the mail. This is supposing you get a SS card before marriage, if not then after you receive the EAD then your SS card your good to go.

Advise given above is correct. I would like to point out that you may be eligible for EI. Come over to the Canada Forum, where there is a pinned section at the top of that Forum called EI and read if you're eligible, and how to go about applying for it.

Thread is 16 pages long, but you might just find the information in the last few pages. If not, ask questions about EI and eligibility in the Forum and someone can respond.

Welcome to VJ and don't forget to visit the Canada forum anyway! Lots of pertinent information relevant to just Canadians immigrating to the US.

SSN's are issued for LIFE.... The only thing you need to do is to keep SSA up to date on your immigration status... (ie..non-resident, resident, citizen)

YMMV
