The grow houses are everywhere in my neighborhood lately.. they busted one a block away.. with that going on.. there is also the violence between groups stealing drugs from each other and innocent people get caught in the middle... I really like the way Singapore deals with the law enforcement... no screwin around... the criminals know what to expect if they get caught and it aint probation...

I feel very safe and quite at home. I lived in Morocco for much of my early life, own a home there, speak a common dialect, and I'm Arab, so everyone assumes I belong there anyway. Customs agents are always surprised when I present a US passport, and I get Moroccan discounts at souks. So, it's all good!

The US is one of the least safe countries in the world. I really don't know why so many people are in a hurry to immigrate and call the US their home. Drug cartel violence is spilling over into quiet, middle-class neighborhoods, but the drug lords bring the battle here and just don't care about any collateral damage that occurs when they are taking vengeance against each other, running torture chambers in the house next door to you, kidnapping for ransoms, getting rid of bodies in acid tanks, etc. You think this is a made up movie? Think Again.

Go to Columbia and have a worry free, loving time, Ken! Good Luck.

Depends on where you live in the US. I feel very safe where I live and work. Although.. unsafe areas are only a few miles away (in about every direction ).

This is the nature of the problem. THe "safe" areas are being infiltrated by violent gangs, who are trying to blend into cookie-cutter housing developments. When they move into your neighborhood, their violence also moves in. Police are being laid off; prisoners are being released early from jail and prisons to "save" money, and the list goes on and on. If you found a safe place to live, then congrats. Being complacent about it is not advisable. Good luck and stay safe.

Well, aren't you paranoid.

Well, aren't you paranoid.

When you are awoken by blood curdling human screams at 2:48 in the morning as a neighbor of the torture chamber house, then you will no longer call it "paranoid".

If blood curling screams are commonplace where you live, I advise you move.

Most of America is still quite safe, where safe is defined as the kind of place where blood curling screams are rare to non-existent :)

If you say so, homey. Peace.

You need to come out of your shell and see that Southern CA and Northern Mexico aren't all that bad.

Definitely felt safer in Canada. I loved to go for a walk in the evenings or after the sunset. It was always safe. Here, women by themselves risk abduction even near their own homes. Children are shot by guns in the schoolyard. The police need to wear bullet proof vests. I miss the freedom that comes from feeling safe. It doesn't seem to exist here. (And we live in what is considered a safe neighbourhood).

Goodness, where do you live?! From what you described I don't consider that a safe neighborhood!

I felt pretty safe in Vietnam- except when the police were doing their random checks in the hotels before my wife and I were officially married. But where I live you can still go for a walk after sunset, whenever. As a matter of fact, things were pretty quiet around here until just recently a swimsuit model from Buena Park (which is 5 miles from my house) was killed by a Canadian!!

The good news is he was found dead!

Yeah, heard that in my car after I posted that...hmm. This seems suspicious to me. What if someone else killed her and they were after him too? He escaped temporarily to Canada until the news blasted his werabouts all over and tipped the REAL killers off. Seems Canada is not so safe afterall!

I've never felt unsafe in India, but there were a few instances that was a little bit scary.

1) Back in Vashi Mumbai when I 1st went to India, there are tons of stores and food places nearby, so I always felt safe to venture out, but there were always those Kids begging, they always told me, never give them anything, because at times they have someone puttiing them in the street for begging and if you do, they will never stop. one of my colleague always told NEVER give them. They would follow you for let say half a block then walk away.

One day I kinda felt bad because there were these 2 kids that were very persistent, so that day i gave each one of them 1 rupees. OOOOPS!! The moment I gave them the money, they ran away, and next thing I know I had almost 10 of them running after me, I had to jump quickly on an Auto Rickshaw and the driver kinda chase them away.

The next few days, all of them came, it's heart wrenching at time with the gesture they do, rubbing the belly and and puting the hand in the mouth back and forth like asking for food. Once they realized i wouldn't give them anymore, they stopped coming.

2) One time flying from Singapore to India, the Singapore airline agent put my boarding pass on the envelop, then when I got to the gate I realized she didn't put back my return ticket in the envelop, and there was no time for me to leave the boarding gate and go back to the check in counter, they called up the ticket counter and they said they had it, and they will foward it to me to the Indian Singapore airline office.

This is where the tricky part came in, when I got to India, and called the singapore office, they say they have no record of such agreement, forgot that MOTO ALWAYS PUT IT IN WRITING. but there was no time, the only option would have been to miss that evening flight, go to the ticket counter and fly back the next day.

When I called the Singapore ticket office, THEY ASKED ME TO LIE, by writing a letter and bring it to the Local police station saying I lost my wallet along which had my ticket, then with a $50 fee, they will issue me the return ticket. So when I went to the nearest police station, there were these prisoners on the floor, I didn't know what they did, but this guy was Kicking them while they are already handcuff, the moment i walked in one Cop hurrily told the guy something and he stopped. I was like oops did I walk into something I wasn't supposed to see, but they help me out to get my letter stamp and i paid that $50 to get my ticket back

3) One day I was in Bangalore on MG road and I noticed there was no cars coming, so i thought WOW perfect time to cross the street, this traffic cop had to rush over to stop me, because some ministers, POLITICIANS ESCORTS cars were going to pass through, they blocked the whole street just for these guys, it wasn't even the president or something.

Took the train alone from Navi Mumbai to Mumbai, traveled in regular cabin, but never felt scare, they only thing that takes awhile to get used to is standing in Line(QUE) to buy tickets, so i never carry a wallet.

Basically they stand up so tight behind you, it's almost like they are feeling your #######, and i noticed why, at time the minute there's a little GAP some crazy persons would try to sneak in. But mostly just one stare in the back let the person know you are not from here and they'll back off a little bit.

I've always felt safe in Thailand.

But not north of 120th St in NYC. Stay south of that if you're white. Or a hate crime random act of violence might fall upon you.

Just saying

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
