Ok so my 3 year old daughter is moving to the US with me on a K-1..

I've heard I may need a letter from her biological father stating that he gives consent for her to move there..

however, it was a one night thing between myself and him and i have no contact with him whatsoever.. know nothing about him.

do i still need a letter ?.. maybe i can write one myself?

NVC and/ or the embassy will likely require something official... either a notarised letter from the biological father authorising the child to move abroad, or a document from court stating that you are free to remove the child from the jurisdiction.

I'm with you on this - although I don't know the next steps - I can not imagine needing a statement from anyone will be required since the father is not noted on the BC. (Even if you did know him but he wasn't on the BC.)

Unless the rules have changed since I entered in 2006, you do not need any additional statements if no one is listed as father on the child's birth certificate. This is exactly the case with my two older kids and we had no problem whatsoever at the Consulate. The only question I was asked was "Is your husband the biological father of you children?". I answered "no" and that was it.

Still it may be a good idea to ask the Consulate:)

Who (if anyone) is listed as the father on her birth certificate?

No one.. just myself as her mother

I'm guesing it's not needed. You could kind of compare it to the passport issue. If the father's name is present on the birthcertificate. They wanted a noterized letter fromt he absent father. In your case no name is listed. I don't think you will have a problem. Again, I'm just guessing.

I came here in K1 and my son in K2 visa's. I didn't have no connection on his father anymore, don't know where the father is now. My son name is on my maiden name in BC and no father name registered too.

You don't need letter from your child's father or consent for you to bring your child in US, if your son name was in your maiden name and no father in child's BC. You only need consent if you've been married to him, or his last name was in child's BC.

But by chance , I went to Department of Social Welfare Division in my county or area, and asked for clearance that I am allowed to bring my son, and they specify that I am a single-mother and solely parent of my son. And bring that letter, when I came into the US.

Good luck! (F)
