OK i thought i also had an interview, but its mostly the benificiary. so after the uscis approve then it sends to Nvc n they are responsible to send to consulate in India. they my fiance fills out his papers needed for interview. Does it matter if i also attend him in india for the interview?

That's embassy specific. Check out the Embassy's website (see Embassy Info button on top of this page) and see if you attend or not.

In Moscow, I would not be allowed to attend and could not wait in the waiting room with her also.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Not always. At some consulates, if the U.S. petitioner does not also show up, the visa can be subject to a 221(g) or outright refusal.

It is always a plus when the petitioner can attend, even if he/she is not allowed into the interview or even on the consular premises. The petitioner can hand his/her passport to the interviewee, who can then show it to the consul. This lends solid credibility that can be the "make or break" factor in visa issuance, regardless of whether the consul ever says anything about it.

From my readings here, I would not treat a New Delhi interview casually in any way.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It's Embassy specific. Please check your fiances specific Embassy website to see if you can attend. While it's nice to attend, as others have posted, if you can't be at the interview, you may want to re-think going period. Your fiance may wish you to be there for the purpose of moral support though.

Also, check others that have been interviewed in New Delhi and see what their Embassy reviews have to say about that process and if it was beneficial for their fiance to be there with them.

Best of luck!

This is irresponsible and arguably perilous advice. There are no drawbacks to being there. How would you feel if the OP took your advice and did not attend, and the consulate issued a 221(g) with a demand that the OP appear for a second interview? Worse, what if the OP's failure to attend turned a "borderline" interview into a visa-refusal?
Also, check others that have been interviewed in New Delhi and see what their Embassy reviews have to say about that process and if it was beneficial for their fiance to be there with them.
This is garbage, and it's obvious why. Many of those who interviewed may never have a clue whether their petitioner's presence had a positive impact, even though it may have been the determining factor. Picture an interviewee seeing the consul and immediately handing the consul the U.S. passport of the petitioner (whether the petitioner is allowed on the consular premises or not). Can that action produce anything but a positive impression in the mind of the consul, with resultant positive impact on the entire interview? Repeat after everybody: DUH.
Best of luck!
It takes some nerve to end with this wish after having given advice that could only cause the petitioner a lesser chance of success and potentially much grief. Good grief!

I've seen many of your postings TBoneTX and have never seen such blatant disrespect shown before as you have in reply to my post. I believe there was nothing wrong with my opinions posted in my reply to the OP. There was no incorrect information posted. If you disagree with my posting, simply posting another reply to the OP presenting your views as to why you don't believe my views are to his/her advantage and why would be more appropriate rather than berating me. Shame on you.

Shame on you.
(Being handled by PM with the lovely & gracious Carla.) To minimize or to completely avert potential difficulties later, the OP should heed the objective advice and be there for the interview.

Does it matter if i also attend him in india for the interview?

I was looking in the Delhi website just today and came across this information about the 'interested party' attending the interview.

Here is what it says...

Due to security concerns and space limitations, U.S. consular sections do not permit interested parties such as friends, relatives, attorneys, or business contacts to attend the visa interview of an immigrant visa applicant or intervene on their behalf during the interview.

If an interested party wishes to provide information to a specific consular section concerning a particular visa applicant, they are encouraged to supply this information directly to the applicant. The applicant can then bring this information to their visa interview.

The very best of luck to you both!

This may or may not include the fiance(e). At the least, the USC could be allowed to sit in a waiting area while the interview is conducted. The OP may wish to send a PM to VJ member DanielParul (really to Parul), because if I recall, she interviewed in New Delhi while Daniel waited... and his being there paid off big-time.
