We had our interview today!

Well, today we finally had our interview at 101 W Congress Prkw in Chicago. We got there a bit early so we waited outside the building until it was 30min for the interview (10am). We went through security check, and yes you are allowed with cell phones.

They gave us a device, like those they give at restaurants, the thing will vibrate when it's your turn to go in. We were at the waiting room at 940am, our thing went off at 9:55. The officer seemed nice at sight. First thing he said that if my wife spoke English, which was a NO, but he called another officer for a quick questions that were only for her.

THings that he asked for:

1. My birth Certificate

2. Her birth certificate

3. Our son's birth certificate

4. Marriage certificate

5. Wedding fotos (about 5)

6. Were and how we met

7. Medical form I-693

8. He asked if we baptized our son, we said yes, and gave him a copy of that certificate.

9. He asked her while the translator was there, what things does she like about me? Do I help with the dishes? Have she ever voted in the United States? (2 times), Did drugs, prostitution, or helped anyone to enter the US illegaly?

10. Was our son in good health?

the officer was nice to us, it was a plus that I was well orgazied, everything that he asked for was given to him fast, no delay, no fumbling things because of our nervousness. As he was chekcing our paper work that we handed to him he kept saying in a low voice "good, very good, this is fine, Ok nice, "

Then he says,

"Well, that's all I can do for you now. We'll let you know in 2 weeks of your results"

Then I said, "What should I tell her?"

He said, "We treat everyone the same, I never tell them the results because that's not up to me. Don't worry, because worrying does't help

anyone. We'll let you know."

i think everything is going to be alright, I let you guys know when we get a response.

We had our interview on Wed, August 19th, with no results on the spot and told us to wait 2 weeks for an answer. Today, we got an NOA on the mail stating:

Notice Type: Welcome Notice

Section: Fiance(e) adjustment COA (CF1

Welcome to the United States of America!

This is to notify you that your application for permanent residence has been approved. It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to permanent resident status in the United States.

Man, they sure know how to welcome you. My wife shed some tears when I translated this to he r.
