K1 related questions..

Hello. I'm a finnish woman and my boyfriend is american (from Boston). We are starting to prepare for the K1 process and there's some things that I'd like comments and advice on..

Proof on meeting and ongoing relationship.. We have met twice, from the first time (december 2007) I only have one stamp on my passport. From the second time (july 2009) I have a passport stamp, boarding passes, plane ticket reciept, reciepts from stores in Boston, bus tickets, SOME pictures of us together and pictures of me with my boyfriends family members. Other evidence of our relationship is phone bills starting from 2008, chatlogs starting from july 2009 (never thought about saving them before ) and some postcards (not sent yet).

Does this sound like enough? If I provide chatlogs, how many pages/days should I print? We talk almost everyday so it would be ALOT.. Should I even print them or send screenshots instead? On the guide here it says you can edit personal information on letters and emails, what exactly is considered that? Is it bad to edit some things out? Have you? Does it matter alot that the chatlogs and postcards will be from the time right before starting the process..? I mean, is it really worth to wait more before starting this whole thing, just to have more proof of contact? What about phone bills? How many of those would be ok?

Simple questions and I know there's no one right amount of these things, but I'd like to hear some experiences.

I know I'll have more to ask as we go on, so I'm very happy to have found this site..

Does this sound like enough? Yes - so far so good.

If I provide chatlogs, how many pages/days should I print? When you have a lot of pages of this type of evidence, it is best to keep it to a minimum (or rather, be selective about what you send so the person reading it doesn't get drowned by too much information) and choose significant dates such as birthdays, anniversaries, and things of that nature.

Provide evidence that is more substantial, like airplane tickets, copies of entry stamps, hotel reservations, credit card statements showing charges during the time you say you were together. Photos should be more current and limited to 5 or 6 as long as both of you are in the photo. Copies of telephone bills showing the foreign calls is very good.

Regarding various types of correspondence, whether email, chat logs or whatever, provide enough to show a continuing relationship. Regarding the editing, they recognize that people in love can have some steamy correspondence, so you don't need to show them that kind of stuff. Any thing that talks about your plans for the future is pretty good, as is the discussions about other family members that you have met or will meet.

Remember, you are trying to show that you have a continuing loving relationship with your significant other. So, don't be afraid to provide copies that have little love notations. Just don't get too specific about intimate details.

You only have to prove having met in the past two years and your intent to marry. That's what they are looking for, along of course with all the little pieces of stuff they just want. Take your time, organize it as the guides on VJ state and double check it before sending it off. Make sure you have a complete copy of everything you send.

Have patience, this goes slower than you want.

Hmm, I don't wanna make another topic, so I'll just ask here:

I was practising typing out the G-325A form and I noticed that I can't fit everything in the boxes, like for example my parents birth dates or four letter months in the employment and residence part. On the date of birth part it says (mm/dd/yyyy) so I'm sure I can't put 03/03/47? Also when I try to type "None" on the "File Number" and "Alien Registration Number" it won't let me, it changes it to alot of zeros... Anyone else had this problem? And how do you fix it? Is there a way to change the font smaller somehow? On the example forms here on VJ I see some boxes fit more than the blank forms.. But I can't type over the example form, since it's an old version?

Hey! I had this problem to, so what couldnt fit I left blank and wrote very neatly by hand, like for dates. And with what was too long to write by hand in the blanks, I made an extra sheet where I mentioned the question number and typed my answer. (I dont know if it will be ok, because we only sent the package last week, but here is my experience).

Ok. so I'll bring this topic up again. Got the G-325A problem solved I guess. But I have more questions, regarding the proof on going relationship again.

I'm sending some of my phone bills as evidence and they're all in finnish. So how exactly do I translate them? Is it okay just to write the translation by hand in english beside the most important parts of the bill, like calls to USA? Or do I have to have the whole page translated or what? How have other people translated phone bills? I asked my service provider and they can't translate old bills for me..

Why are you sending phone bills? USCIS wants to know primarily about a face to face meeting within the last two years... phone bills do not prove this.

Oh I know phone bills don't prove that. I have proof of meeting in person in the last two years, the question wasn't about that. I'm sending phone bills (amongst other things) as proof of on going relationship..
