How would you feel if your fiance would ask you to sign a pre-nuptial agreement prior to your marriage. Would you feel bad about it?

I just want to know the opinion of the majority on this issue:)

Not at all. It's a contract, just like marriage is.

Concur - as long as you understand what is written in it, what you will get if things go sour, it's a non-issue.

If someone wants to protect what they owned prior to the marriage, it's their right to do so.

I've known a few people that wished they protected their things...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

my opinion of prenup

it means u r going to the marriage with the believe that it will fail

you are only focusing on the failure of the marriage so u dont lose what u have

marriage is life sharing, not what i have and what u have and who gets what.

I would not sign a prenup, personally. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself, and I would not expect any of my spouse's assets from before the marriage if it were to end. And I would require that my spouse trust that in me before getting married.

#######. prenups have nothing to do with divorce. some people, really

prenup has everything to do with divorce

no prenup means 50-50 in case of divorce

prenup means u keep what u agree on prenup

I have to admit, I assumed pre-nups were all about divorce. When would one come into play otherwise?

Obviously someone has no clue what she is talking about. Prenups can and have also be used in case one of the spouses falls into terrible financial distress and helps to protect the family assets. Then again, when you own nothing....

I wouldn't feel upset if he requested a pre-nup. I might want to talk to him so that I understand his intentions and so I know what he is wanting to protect. I like honest and upfront conversation. But I would have no problem signing one, nor would it offend me if he brought it up for discussion.

what happen if in the prenup husband got prenup that in case of divorce he keeps his assets and then marriage is short term, so poor wife gets nothing after divorce. that is not a marriage, marriage should be sharing a life together not to worry who gets who before the marriage. this is what think about prenup and no one has to agree with me.

I wouldn't do it but more power to those who do.

i agree with u 100%

i feel the same

You could use one to regulate aspects of the marriage.

Like - how many times to have sex, raising the children, not having children, "flings", etc...

They are not just about "assets".

But - they can protect you if things go sour,

“The state says she’s entitled to half of everything. Half? Whoa. Let’s say five years from the wedding day, you hate each other. She found someone else. You found them cheating. You want a divorce, and now she gets half? You’re telling me, now I gotta write a check for $10,000 a month and she’s with another guy? I’m not gonna be that schmuck.”

Interesting read - this article about pre-nups
