My mom's interview was today. It was also meant to be my interview. They sent the interview notice with her name and mine on it as they had done before with other notices. My mom got approved and the CO didn't ask her anything about her case. She just asked what she does for a living and how long she's been living here and then she said nothing's wrong with the case so mom could pick up her visa on Sunday. But one consular officer said that I had to file a separate application because I wasn't covered by my mother's. I am not 21 yet and was not 21 at the time of filing, but I will be 21 before the end of this year. What am I supposed to do now? They never said anything about a separate application until today of all days. I called the NVC and they said it has nothing to do with what happens at embassies and the lady just gave me 2 numbers to call that were unyielding. Another CO also told my mom that she could petition me when she gets her GC but what if I am already 21 by then? Can she still do it and how long does it take?
