Chalk one up?

Its not a bloody game...

Its a good thing that noone besides the robber was seriously injured, but presenting cases like this as some sort of masturbatory porno-trip the way the OP is (you too can be a hero, if only you carry a gun!) is just juvenile.

Its very odd to me that you would take issue with this, lighten up jeez! I would like to let you know that I didnt actually chalk one up.

Its very odd to me that people would "Yeehaw!" all over this story and stories like it.

I find it stranger still that some of the very same people that pride themselves on the ownership of, and knowledge of firearms are among the first to get a woody over this sort of thing, as if being in the right place at the right time is something to look forward to and that their guns are toys for grown up little boys.

Agree wholeheartedly. These are the self same people that decry the media frenzy over celebrity (the coverage of MJ death etc) and yet when it comes to self-congratulatory stories of citizen admistered 'justice', they are all over it like a rash. There is nothing wholesome about poring over such incidencts as though summary justice is something that should be glorfied. This kind of thing is an expression of sadism and worse. Depraved.

this should also apply to a LEO when they administer "justice" to stop a criminal from continuing with their deeds. heck let's be fair and not publish any stories (censor the news) about a criminal being stopped from committing further acts of aggression against innocents as in either case (LEO/ citizen (LEOs are citizens too)) it might just be considered a "glorification" of summary justice (self-preservation).

It's quite possible that they do. Being faced with extreme violence does not automatically make you enjoy the participation even if you do personally benefit. Quite the reverse in fact. Those who find such experiences enjoyable are sick.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

There's nothing wrong with the reporting of the story. The preamble however, - is objectionable for all the reasons that I have said.

Guns Save Lives

On Saturday, a violent criminal shot a store clerk, had the customers

in the store lined up, and while reloading his revolver told the

customers that he was going to kill them all.

Then a person open carrying a single-action Colt .45 came in and shot

the criminal in the stomach, saving at least six or seven lives.

I received a detailed account from a VCDL member who was at the scene

(but not the person with the .45). One of the things I was told is

how some of the customers were telling the police that the open-

carrier was a hero and how he saved their lives.

If that's not being a first-responder when no one else was there to

help, I don't know what is.

Here is the press coverage (and there won't be a word of any of this

on any of the national news broadcasts):

That is a huge assumption Charles, and quite an unsafe one. Regardless, that is simply not pertinent to the discussion that was going on. My guess is you either have no clue what I am actually saying or if you do, you are afraid to voice your support for it because that might anger the rest of your NRA carrying buddies.

I dont find it odd that people are all Yeehaw(as you put it) because the thug got a taste of his own medicine, people are just happy to see that the good guy one.

I'm not a gun owner and never got a woody over this, I'm just happy to see that the bad guy lost.

Charles, give it up. They've been brainwashed by the BBC that guns are bad, mm-kay.

As I said - I have no problem with the story, only the way its been politicised by that website.

Your certitude, while nice, is not based on anything except what you feel aught to be true, but again, that has nothing at all to do with the objections raised over the presentation and utilization of this story for unsavoury ends.

so as you feel i'm wrong, do you have some statements made by those there to prove me wrong, or are you just posting what you feel ought to be true too? ;)

not sure where the preamble originated ... the url posted goes to the Richmond-Times Dispatch. The story begins with:

Two shot in South Richmond store

Published: July 12, 2009 A gunman who had wounded a shopkeeper and opened fire on several customers was stopped yesterday when another man shot him at the store in South Richmond, authorities said.

The violent attempted robbery took place shortly after 1 p.m. at the Golden Food Market at 2701 Jefferson Davis Highway, the same store where another man was shot last month -- and only three blocks from the scene of another robbery in June that left a shopkeeper dead.
