Hi Irene,

Your friend should read the K1 guide, here. Also, all the information he/she will need regarding the interview and medical is at the Moscow Embassy website, here.

Best of luck, and tell your friend to drop in, the water's fine here. :)

You should have your friend sign up on VJ and get his answers directly. Or at least check the U.S. embassy in Russia web site.

As to the medical clinics in Moscow the embassy web site lists these:

International Organization for Migration, telephone (7-095) 797-8723

Filatov Clinic, telephone (7-095) 423-7780 or (8-902) 671-2964

AO Meditsina, telephone (7-095) 250-9186 or 250-8899

or this one,

Chidren's Hospital no 1. Vladivostok, telephone (4232) 40-13-35 or (4232) 45-24-26

There is a great deal of information on each country on VJ. Your "friend" should check it out on his own.

Since I sponsored my wife on both a K1 and a K3, we can state that AO Meditsina provides service far superior to IOM (also called MOM in Russian).

AO Meditsina was professional, clean, and quick. They did require an unnecessary vaccination, but subsequently they apparently stopped that practice after I complained to the embassy.

MOM was abusive and degrading. Very outrageous, sexually abusive. I don't know why the embassy kept them on the list of providers. MOM has close relations, reportedly, with the Russian govt, though.
