Although I have not made many posts, I have been an avid lurker for a while. Every day I see many getting approved for their visas that do not have a long waiting period. Seems like I never see any old tymers getting their approvals. My question goes out to the old tymers who have been waiting for months and months for name checks, clearances, whatnot. How do you or did you handle the long time away from each other during this process? What makes you feel better? How do you get your chest to stop hurting on a daily basis? I've even had to resort to medications recently due to my body basically just freaking out on me. I break out in hives, have migranes, vomit, you name it ever since we have been in AR.

I'm really trying to learn how this system works. Still not quite understand why some visas are issued quickly and others take a year or so.

I just want to see my fiance. It's been a year now and I just want to die.

I do not have anything to say to you that will help or make you feel better. I simply ask that you never ever think that thought again. Nothing good will come of it.

Wish you the best and hopefully one of the vets like shon will show up eventually and tell you something that you may find more meaningful :)

i think you need professional help if youa re too the point of physical illness..go make an appointment with a counsleor..if you have a lack of funds ..there be a community counseling center in your area..call and make an appointment now..folks here can be supportive, but you now need more than support from a website..

I wish I had words of encouragement for you, but I don't. I'm right there with you though. I never knew my life could be flip-flopped upside down and inside out in a year. We are VERY close on our timelines and interview dates there in Cairo so maybe we will hear GOOD news soon. I don't know what the hold-up is there and I too have been getting very discouraged regarding this whole process among other things. I try to keep myself busy and try to keep my mind off everything which as you know is nearly impossible to do. I do not want to say the infamous "hang in there, it will happen, etc, etc, etc" I know these words do nothing for you. Sometimes I also find it helpful to step away from VJ for a few days. When I see approval upon approval, I hate to say it, but yes sometimes I do cry because I want my turn. Those who get their visas will NEVER understand how it feels to be away from your loved one for months and months, some of us even years. If you want to talk, PM me. Also, maybe consider joining the new group that Rahma has started. I'm sure you will get a lot of support there. (F)

The wait may seem long now but once you are together it'll all be worth it and it'll seem like you were never apart. Hang in there. Get a webcam and a really good long distance phone plan. Save up for a trip to visit. The waiting will eventually come to an end.

LOL, do you know how much it costs to fly to Egypt right now? I don't even make that much in a month. We do the web cam thing and we talk everyday, but recently it seems every time I see him on the cam, my chest will hurt even more. God I miss him!

I would have to say mostly I second Neja, but I relate to what you're saying. I refuse to give in to despair, but when I suffer from it more than I think I can bear I pray alot, get help from friends, family, and sometimes therapy and medical advice.

Zoloft does help sometimes but it makes me very nervous and have chest pains, so I don't like to use it.

You know, I don't make the airfare in a month either, but it is so worth it. Gonna pay it again real soon. Tell yourself if the wait (heaven forbid)goes on much longer you'll go, and start planning. If you get visa first, so be it, otherwise you'll be ready to go and have something to look forward to.

The webcam bugs me out a little too, but those are GOOD chest pains for me :luv:

Sometimes, you have to ask yourself... is it a need or a want, this need/wanting to be with the person you love?

When I made plans to spend a week with mine this April, for his birthday... it originated as a want... but as the weeks passed, it became a need.

I'm still paying it off, but it was definitely worth it, to spend that time with him, to renew our affection, and to overcome some of our obstacles together.

I know plane tickets cost... but sometimes you just have to decide which would end up costing more... the money for a plane ticket, or the distance between you.

It's up to you to decide... but for me, taking this last trip was worth it 100X. I'll be with him soon, but not soon enough. The longest we were ever separated was 6 months... and even if I get ther in October, it'll be 7 since the last time I saw him. I already miss him so much I cry about it. Sappy, huh?

But I love him, and when I'm with him... I feel complete. I miss that, I miss him.

Awwwww, I'm sorry you're hurting. :( There's really absolutely nothing any of us can say to make it better since obviously what you need is just to be with your SO. The only thing that made it easier for me was being with my friends a lot. A LOT lot.

It took 6 months for me to get the NOA2...... It was ######, to put it bluntly.

I think for me it was the not knowing when i would see steve next, i could not plan my life.

While i was waiting nearly all the people who filed with me where at interview or AOS..seeing people go ahead while i was stuck alone behind, made for a depressing couple of months.

Now ive been approved and i am here with my baby, i still remeber the pain and feel for you guys... Hold on.

I don't have much room to speak here becuase Stewart and I were very blessed...but I can tell you that being together at the end of the process makes it ALL worth it...

Trust me..there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there and take Dean's advice. tHere is no weakness in getting the help you need.

My experience might not be yours, but I know for me sometimes its really difficult to see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel when you are stuck in the dark middle with no end in sight. It's easy to get lost in that dark moment because it feels like its never going to move forward.

Try to focus on the absolute now moment and not worry about the past or future. My mind likes to think too much and it helps just to focus on where I am at the moment. does it make sense?

You can see from the other posts here you have others who truely empathize with this experience. Reach out here when ever you need us. And don't forget, even though its so hard sometimes to remember, that there really will be a light at the end of the tunnel.

take care (F)

Hang in there zoloft!

While I was blessed with a short process, I fully understand the stress and aggravation that you're waiting is bringing. This whole thing has huge ups and downs for us all, and it can go on for years.

Try to believe it will get better, and try to focus on the things you can do while waiting. Keep talking to us on VJ, we've all been through what you're going through.

Hugs (F)
