Hi everyone! I went to my interview today and everything went fine. The officer only asked me about 6 questions from the New test questions and also had me read and write a simple sentence. Although, I was a little nervous, the test part was easy but she asked me other questions like if I had any speeding tickets? how much did I paid? and when was it? also she asked me what is the size population of my country(where I was born) amd at the end she asked me: besides all the benefits, why do you want to become a U.S. citizen?

My husband went with me because I applied as married to a US citizen but when we were called in, the officer said that he had to wait outside so I guess is not required.

Overall all good!! the officer told to wait for a letter that will tell me when my ceremony would be, she also mentiones that if I wanted to apply for my passport I had to bring2 passport pics an a check on the ceremony day but dont know how that works??? good luck to you all!!

Hi Giss,

Sorry to "crash" the July/August filers thread as a September filer....but...

I admit, your post got my attention, as it was interesting that the immigration officer asked you, "Why do you want to become a US Citizen", during your interview. Personally, I think that all immigration officers should ask this question, as it certainly makes one think as to why they truly want such. After all, citizenship is an optional step, and why one chooses such...I wonder about, really....."Do they really want to become a US Citzen for the right reasons, or is it something else?"...hmm.....

There are a lot of good reasons to become a US Citizen...I'm sure the ones who deserve such an honour have a smart answer for that question..lol...

So what are your reasons to be a US Citizen (if you don't mind me asking)?

Nevertheless, congratulations on passing your citizenship interview and thanks for sharing in detail about your experience here on VJ. :thumbs:

Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey too, and hope you get your oath ceremony letter and oath date soon too. Interesting too, that you can apply for a passport right at the oath ceremony for you, very convenient, indeed!

Hi Giss,

Congrats on the pregnancy and good luck with your baby in March! I agree, I think it is a good reason that you want to be a citizen because you want to be a part of it, like you husband and future child are.

Actually, one of the reasons I wanted to become a citizen was for the same reason too, and wrote the following in my cover letter, when I submitted my N-400 application: "I would like to be a US Citizen just like my husband and son...(or something along those lines)". So yes, I totally understand how you feel there...It truly is an important step for you and your family, indeed!...:)

I definitely think that more immigration officers should ask this question to all applicants...I'm sure they would get a lot of good (and maybe not so good) answers this way...!

Finally got my freaking Oath letter yesterday. Oath date is December 10th - almost 2 months after the interview (!!!) and that's in the office that offers same day Oaths!!! Freaking ridiculous. Lets see if anyone can beat my record here on July and August filers thread. Don't think so though...

Hello people!

Well, here we are - done with the interview, and I'm finally an American citizen!! :dance:

The interview took place in Atlanta yesterday at 1:25 pm. They first were going to schedule me for the oath on December 1, but then the lady that was interviewing me asked me where we lived. When she found out that it's a 5-hour drive (and we came with the baby - she saw us in the waiting room), she asked her supervisor if my case could be finished today and they swore me in individually in the office!!! That was so extremely cool of them - very good experience of becoming an American citizen!

The questions were easy - very easy. I was not even asked to show any joint documents. She just asked me to verify my address, and mine and my hubby's DOBs.

So voila! Done!
