Good evening my fellow VJers,

I finally got the GC in mail today 7/6/09, the letter dated 6/25/09, envelope stamped 7/1/09. Joyful tears :crying: !

Question is: my GC expiration date is 10 years from my I-751 approval date which is 6/17/2019, is that normal/correct? I thought the new GC expiration date is 10 years extension from original approval date/2 yr GC date which would be 4/23/2019.

Btw, I don't have a magnifying glass and I don't want to spend more money so I can't tell if the last tiny little last circle at the back is Obama or Bush. As you can tell, I don't quite care but as far as I see, there's no update on GC design.

Thanks for everyone's support and wish everyone else who hasn't got approval yet have smooth and speedy journey! :star:

Hi jasminelily,

Congratulations!!!! YAY. Very happy for you my dear fellow VJer. The wait is indeed finally over for you.

If I were you I wouldn't care, as you will be soon applying for N400. But I think since it's another application and different approval date than that of AOS so I guess they start the date of 10 year GC based on the date your I-751 was approved, but your resident status remains the same.

Now you will apply for N400 next year. Hope that goes smooth for you. Good Luck for it.

:)

Thanks for the kind wishes. I did call National Service Center with magic option 1,2,3. But the operator told me the same thing. She was reading from a script or something. I asked her a lot of my friends applied after me and got approved and she said it depends on the case to case basis. I requested her to let me talk to supervisor or Immigration Officer, the supervisor said the same thing. But were polite and courteous and so was I, but I wanna know what's going on? :(:(:(. Almost 5 months now and no response.

Sorry but it's your thread for celebration. I can only Imagine what a joy it must be have the GC in hand for which you wait over 4 months.

I guess so. My new green card looks the same way, the expiration date is the day the card production was ordered the second time, not the approval date.

Well I did complain to my senator about broken commnunication channels. I suggest you do it if you don't get anything when you reach 6 months since now 6 months is the standard processing time. Still wish it will be there for you before 6 months. :star:
