Palin was not put in the foreground of the campaign to appeal to youthful Mavericks.

She was put in the foreground to get the female vote.

According to a CNN poll regarding possible 2012 contenders from February Palin has a 10-point edge among Republican women. With 32% support among them to 22% for Huckabee and 20% for Romney. So she is definitely popular among at least Republican women.

"With the sampling error, that's not enough to say for sure that Palin is in the lead, but it does indicate that if the primaries were held tomorrow, Palin would have a good chance of being the favorite among GOP women."

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/27/gop.poll/

I wouldn't call 32% rousing, you know.

I used to be a republican. The party lost its fascination with me when they decided to let "conservative values" take precedence over economic policy. And when I saw that the economic policy they pushed in the 80's has only led to further dividing Americans by class, rather than growing our economy for all.

What are a few of those "values"....that Republicans did not hold dear before? (back when you were one)

Making social issues the deciding factor in whether or not a candidate was fit for the job. And making aggression in the world arena our "job" rather than acting as a benevolent protector of those who are oppressed.

Before I can appreciate (or respond) this great time era for the GOP I must know about what years you are referring too?

1981 to present day.

So you want to go back to the power-years of Nixon and Ford (who couldn't get elected)?

Sure Kennedy and Johnson were the fathers of the Vietnam war but Nixon had his roll as well, (expanding the war into other countries) was "he" a benevolent protector?

As if being dumb isn't reason enough for the GOP. *palm to forehead* Denial is not just a river in Egypt. Guh, you all can do better than her.

Guh: a word that expresses confusion or annoyance. A word expressing angst or despondence, frequently used online as a type of sigh.

Speaking of denial.......

Okay, now I understand, all the effort is based on your concern that "we" field the best candidate.

(wink..... gott'cha)

Danno. Baby. Sarah Palin blew it on National TV and not just once. That kind of thing doesn't just go away because it's out there forever. The rest are right it's better to find someone for the GOP who is not just a C that got a degree but someone with honors. Do you also see Russia from the US? Come on, come on, come on.

We can agree those TV spots were a mistake and very harmful, what McCains Campaign were thinking by insisting on them demonstrates why his campaign proceeded as it did.

But I am afraid your bias is showing again when you say-

"it's better to find someone for the GOP who is not just a C that got a degree but someone with honors. "

Where are Obamas grades that we might admire them?

Where are John McCain's Honors?

If this is what you are looking for... why do you only demand (in a vulgar manor) from a GOP female candidate?

Just what is that Palin up to now that she ain't the Gov no mo! And just who is Nalin' Palin these days!

Is Palin the "best" that the GOP has to offer?

Well, if she was, the GOP would be in real trouble. Fortunately for the GOP, she isn't.

Like I said before, from your perspective she isn't someone you would vote for. Perspective is everything.

Sure it is. On the other hand, a governor that simply abandons the people that gave her a mandate to run their state surely wouldn't be considered the best choice for a candidate to run the country. Abandonment isn't that smart a strategy - but then, Sarah hasn't come across as particularly smart anyway.

No, it probably means she is out of politics. I wouldn't blame her considering the hammering she got the last time. Like her or hate her one has to admit she received unfair treatment. I wouldn't want to go through that again.

Gary, you speak the truth. If anyone is paying attention, it's clear the liberals used frivolous lawsuits to push her out of office because they were scared of her political potential. I am a socialistic Swede and I like her. If she runs for president in 2012 I might cast my first vote as a U.S. citizen for her. That is why the liberals are so scared.

Palin brought a lot of the bad press upon herself so to blame liberals for it is ridiculous (although I don't condone the attacks on her kids). For one she's obviously uninformed about many issues that a politician should have at least some knowledge of. There are many more qualified & respected Republicans that the GOP should back in 2012... Palin is nothing more than a female version of Dan Qayle.

Its kinda hard to be optimistic about past events...

Not really, but the attitudinal mindset of cynicism of the past carries over to the present and future.

BTW, Tuesday, watch as Michael Jackson get idealized/canonized as a great pop star and human being, and not reviled as a serial pedophile and child molester.

Now you're just trying to be pretentious in a really meaningless way ;)

History has already rendered a judgement on those events.

Probably because the pedophilia stuff was never proven. Without a conviction, the media can't render a judgement on allegations. Its called defamation.

And the second accuser was interviewed after MJ's death and admitted it was his fathers idea to get money. So number two was total bs. We still don't know the details about the first case.

As if they haven't done that before.
