Hello,

I just found this website and it's great. Anyway my question is this... My wife received a letter today from immigration telling her that her that she needs to file form I-751. I have read on this site that you should NOT file for I-751 till at least 90 days before your green card expires. Does this mean I can file any day now instead of waiting till the end of the month when it will have been 90 days?

Thanks so much,

Ryan

I've heard about a couple of people getting letters. Hmmm.. interesting, since when I originally got the original 2 yr card, the letter specifically said I would not be reminded .. and wasn't, lol.

Anyway ... as to your question ... wait until you are within the 90 day window. Don't do it now.

Oh.. and I know you just joined Ryan, so welcome to VisaJourney .. but please do us all a favour and :time:

You can file no sooner than 90-days prior to the expiration of the card.

Thanks for the quick replys, I thought it was 90 days, but I was a little confused when I received that letter. It seems weird to you guys that I got a letter, do you think there may be something wrong? Also Otto and Karin, I am in San Antonio, so I bet we will have similar experiences. How did it go for you living in Austin?

USCIS only recently started sending out these 'reminder letters' - it's not weird, just new.

Things going well so far... We'll be filing to lift conditions in a few weeks..

Our letter showed up about a month before we were due to file thank goodness I knew the dates ( thanks to VJ and the guides ) and did not think it was time as my window opened on the 23rd of July

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Your timeline says you received your PR/Green Card June 8th - I presume you meant to enter that date in your Approved date. They aren't going to stamp your passport when your card is being made - You'll probably get it very soon (there's no way to check status of Card Production that I know of).
