Singer Michael Jackson dead at 50

Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the “King of Pop” and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50. Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for Los Angeles County, confirmed his office had been notified of the death and would handle the investigation.

The circumstances of Jackson’s death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to the hospital, Ruda told the newspaper.

I used to listen to him since i was 8 or 10 years old .

totally taken by surprise on this one

despite his, what I'll call "uniqueness" out of respect, he was an amazing artist and performer.

I was a huge fan during his hey day and I continue to really enjoy alot of his songs.

Off The Wall will remain a timeless favorite for me.

I think he has to be the MOST WELL KNOWN, WELL LOVED public figure in the entire WORLD, ever

I'm soooo bummed out! I always loved Michael Jackson, Even when he was in the Jackson 5.... I still have all my 45'S from when I was a kid. I use to have posters of him on my wall growing up. And my husband also loves his music. What a sad day RIP Michael

Shocking and sobbering since we were born the same year... Definately one of the best pop musicians, dancer, music video producer EVER! I can't think of a single song I didn't like...

I've always felt very sad over his bizarre personality, and sick obsession with children.. Always wondered what went wrong... why why why... I was really disgusted when he moved to Bahrain to "carry on" with their permission and blessings...

I feel very sad for the children he left behind... what a legacy they face...

I had two older brothers who had the Michael Jackson jacket and tried to perfect their moon walk but I being 30 have no real attachment to him. I'm not really affected by this. I mostly saw the scandals of the man on television growing up and weird Al Yankovitch making fun of him in videos. I liked some of MJ's music but I was 4 years old when Thriller came out. I was too young and missed the peak that my brothers who were 5 years older than me got to witness.
