Correct me if am wrong ppl..f you are not yet a citizen you can not petition your parents. Even if you have a 10 yr. GC you need to be a USC first to file an I-130 petition for them. They can ask for an interpreter during the interview but i knew of one who was denied because she can't even speak basic english.

ok in case you are eligible to petition your parents...

During the interview they will be asked in Tagalog so no problem with wether they dont speak english that well. During my interview i was asked by my american consul in tagalog even the pre screener so its less to worry. But in any case to be ready have them practice to answer in english by now.

and as an observation while i was waiting my turn to the interview by the consul,i noticed that a parent was asked in tagalog by the pre screener and the questions asked were..

9. Ilang beses na po

I can recall those questions that i even less worry about myself,in fact i enjoyed that evesdropping....On the other window was the same they were asked in Tagalog. So when it was my turn to go inside the consuls room,i was shocked and greeted with Magandang Umaga and the consul often speak tagalog since i speak english,he prefer me to answer in english,i do answer in tagalog and it was okey with him.....

So basically, for me its not really the language that matters but maybe there are other grounds that lead to a denial. But like i said be PREPARE

OP was asking about a B2 Visa.

ok, let's focus here

there is only one answer to your question...

NO

You cannot petition your parents for a tourist visa, they can apply for themselves and maybe the fact that you are already living in the US may help or work against them since the consulate could think that they have intent on immigrating permanently to the US and deny their visas.

If they have resources, meaning $$$$, it won't be a problem and there is a greater chance they will be approved...if they don't, the US consulate could see it as a threat to immigrate and overstay their tourist visas.

It doesn't matter if they don't speak English, there isn't any provision that requests the applicant to speak English in order to be approved or allowed into the US.

Moved from AOS(student/work/visitors) to Embassy (regarding getting a visitors visa)

Perhaps that will cut down on the confusion :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

when i was on my way to syria there was a man on his flight going back. he spoke no english what so ever. he caried a paper probably written by the people he came here to see...that said, i need help and things like, can u get me to my gate, i dont speak english. so i dont think they will be denied if they dont speak the language. he did finally find a kid who spoke english/arabic and he followed him to the gate.

they might be denied just because they think they are going to immigrate here like most people get denied for.

I think I have been to 32 countries, none of which I spoke the language fluently.
