Routine circumcision is usually performed during the first 10 days (often within the first 48 hours), either in the hospital or, for some religious ritual circumcisions, at home. If you decide to have your son circumcised at the hospital, your pediatrician, family doctor, or obstetrician will perform the procedure before you bring your baby home. The doctor should prepare you by telling you about the procedure he or she will use and the possible risks. Circumcision after the newborn period can be a more complicated procedure and usually requires general anesthesia.

circumcision in general should require general anaesthesia. I really don't understand how people can put their newborns into such a situation for non-medical reasons. It's disgusting that there are still doctors out there who perform this very painful procedure without using any form of anaesthesia, some even believe a newborn cannot feel pain.

I have worked as a pedi nurse in Germany where a lot of muslims checked in with a medical referral (from their moslim pediatrician) and had the procedure done when their kids where about 1 year old under general aneaesthesia and a 2-day hospital stay. I don't condone religious circumcision much, but at least proper pain management was provided. Circumcision on a newborn is barbaric.

I have a really good memory and I don't recall any pain.

Zaid was circumsized when he was 12 hours old at the hospital for religous purposes. My OB did it and I was with him the whole time. All he used was a numbing cream and a sugar water paci and zaid didnt even wake up during the procedure. It was red for a day and a half and healed great.

I have no recollections on that procedure, but maybe was why I had fears of getting my thingy caught in a meat grinder while training to be meat cutter. but have to admit, also had a fear of getting my fingers stuck in that thing. So I quit that training and trained to be a cost-cutter and even a head cutter, but that is not to be taken literally.

In regards to that pipe organ, if I may call it that, believe it's prime function is to emit fluids of either the S or U type. Just seems like those fluids can get struck in there causing skin irritation. But really don't know, never had to deal with that, and never openly discussed this with other men. We rather talk about women then our own private stuff.

Did you train naked to be a meat cutter? I can see worrying about your fingers, but......

Yeah, me neither brother.

Then again - lots of peeps on VJ wanna be thinking there's something deeply disturbed with my psyche, so maybe I should blame moms&pops for mutilating defenseless little baby me, and making me be all apesh!t and such

If I had a #######, I would NOT want anyone cutting it up. Just think of one of those cigar cutters on your knob.
