the I-134

Probably asking something that I should know, or can read in the forms, but I really don't get it.

With all the stuff to get ready for the interview, there was also a I-134 for a sponsor to fill out.

Should I send this form to the US for my fiancé to fill out and for him to send back?

He is sending some stuff over to proof that he makes enough money to support us (according to the guidelines), isn't that sufficient?

Sorry if I am asking something that is answered way too often already.

Yes, it is in all the guides :) Anyway, the form I-134 must be filled out by your fiance.

Good luck!

Thanks, that will delay the process, but so be it...

I suppose he could download it online, so at least you don't need to be mailing it back and forth.

depends on the consulate.... some requrie the I-134, some say the I-134 is optional... some don't require it at all

YMMV

it isn't really clear to me.

what it says is this:

"Evidence of support: Evidence which will show that you and your childeren , if any, are not likely to become public charges in the United States. The enclosed information sheet DS2000 lists evidence which may be presented to meet this requirement of law.

If any affidavit is to be submitted, form I-134 must be used. The form can only be considered for acceptance if duly completed and supporting documents are attached."

So do, or don't we need it?

like payxibka said :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

In the review I do not see the MUST... It seems it is optional. Just by including it in P3 does not mean it is required as you have the DS-2000 where the evidence of public charge is submitted

YMMV
