Using GC for the first time & I-94

Hello All,

Last time I visited Canada was using my AP, therefore I received a new I-94 in my passport (the original one was removed).

I am in Canada now and going back to the US this weekend using my GC for the first time. Therefore I have been told I only show the border guard my GC, as they no longer care to see your passport. Should I inform them I have the I-94 in my passport that needs to be removed? Or does it matter?

You can remove the I-94 and discard it. The I-94 usually is removed at an AOS interview and discarded by the interviewing officer.

We still have the old I-94 card, it is in our scrap book.

And yes all that is needed to show the POE officer at the border is green-card, we have been to Toronto 3 times since getting green-card.

Oh OK, I didn't know I could remove it myself. Thought it had to be removed by someone of "authority".

NO I-94 cards are to be carried by NON-Residents. Green-card holders are Residents. The only thing she needs to fill out is the customs claim form which everyone needs to fill out.

Right, and note that this has not changed even with the WHTI rules for land crossings going into effect June 1.

You can toss the I-94 or keep it in your scrap book. You will need only your GC to re-enter. FWIW we live 6 miles from canada and go to Montreal frequently, my wife shows only her GC coming and going, no problem.
