Shakysgirl - sorry to hear this continuing saga... To be extremely honest, in my case, I was expecting not to get an interview until the 3 years of eligibility as a PR are completed - it's a eligibility criteria so it seemed to me that I would not get an interview until that date was passed. Hence, when I was replying previously to folks on this list about going to do walk-in FPs, I wasn't sure it would make any difference in my case for example, because the interview date would have to be after my September anniversary date... And frankly that puts Naturalization in a 4 month processing time, and perhaps another month for Oath, but after waiting 10+ months for ROC process to complete, that's still pretty good...

Others may have a different take, perhaps its up to the Oath time that the eligibility date is counted, or you might want to post in the main forum about it, to get the guidance of those who understand the CFRs...

We don't have the Biometrics letter yet! I have checked our case on the USCIS web site and it still shows the NOA as being the last action. I noticed during the I-751 application that our on-line information was sometimes behind reality. For example getting a letter before it is even listed on the web site.

Has any one noticed that happening with the N-400 application?

Updating my FP date.

Suggestion to everyone who is trying to post the list : Please use the "Preview Post" button to view the post prior to posting it. It shows exactly how the post will look once posted.

Wannabe_Texan, they should not set appointments for interviews before the required eligibility period is past anyway. They set the rules, they know the rules, they should set appointments accordingly.

hey that all makes sense to me

ok they let us apply 90 days before the date but rules say

we have to be past 3 years before approaval

seems right to me

now having to make 2 trips to miami for interview and then oath

seems over the top

we are here working our arses off trying to survive

yet they make it extremely difficult go figure

red d

Wannabe_Texan, they should not set appointments for interviews before the required eligibility period is past anyway. They set the rules, they know the rules, they should set appointments accordingly.

The thing is when these laws were set, where one can apply 90 days prior to be eligible under 5 years or 3 years, cases used to take over a year to process, Now that they are taking less time, I think they will review the laws and change them to you can only apply when your are eligible nor 90 days prior. This will happen soon based on the fact that they are getting people into the interview and then decide they applied too soon.

I have read some cases where when you are interviewed prior your 3 or 5 years, the officer can either schedule you for another interview when you are eligible or its denied.

Either way, the USCIS need to fix this. It can be very frustrating.

Hello CColdwell,

Does going to Elizabeth ASC early help? Where can I find parking there? Also, what info is needed to fill out the forms quickly?

Thanks

Sid

Fingerprinting done!

My experience: I got there really early. My appt was at 8AM, but I was there at 7:15, and there was already 3-4 people ahead of me. By the time 7:30 came around, there was about 10 people behind me. So definitely get there early. We were ushered in at around 7:50 I believe. The guard gave me paperwork to fill out, and once you fill it out you go to the receptionist, so needless to say I filled mine out quickly (had all the info handy and ready to go), and got to the acutal biometrics waiting area :) So I basically skipped all the people who were ahead of me because they were still filling out their forms! haha. I  was out by 8:20AM

The actual fingerprinting itself was relatively painless, although I was tense and the person scanning my fingerprints kept telling me to relax, but of course this only got me more tense. My fingerprints seemed to pass within the 55-65% range. I hope this is going to be ok? He seemed satisfied by them though, so fingers crossed!

Has anyone else had experience with fingerprints failing and if so what was the timeline you found out they failed? I hope everything works out for me though

@roosh, As for the walk-in policy, I was looking at the receptionist's desk and I saw a post-it note saying "No walk-ins for I-90" I believe it was. I do know of people on other forums that walked in at Elizabeth, so it's worth a shot I think.

Cheers

I think getting there early helps because you get the forms sooner and then it's all up to if you fill them out fast enough. I'm sure the waiting queue behind me was pretty long, so I was grateful to be the 5th or 6th person in, but 2nd for fingerprinting since I was done filling out the forms.

There was parking on the street right next to the center, meter parking, and if you're coming on the weekend, I believe the meters are free. Personally I took the train, it was 2 blocks from the center, worked out great.

From what I can remember for the form you need A#, address, ssn, country of citizenship, country of birth, birthday, receipt number (which is on the fingerprint notice you bring anyway), just your basics really. I think the people a head of me were with there with their family so they probably had a lot of forms to fill out. Oh and I'm sure you know, but don't forget your green card.

Good luck, keep us posted

Cheers

Thanks for all the replies. I don't mind waiting, I just wanted to be sure that my local office wasn't just giving the congressman's office a load of garbage. Sorry but I do not believe in any way they know the rules and follow them. Like the rest of you, I've been doing this basically non-stop for 4 years and have had nothing but problems throughout. I made the "mistake" of doing US immigration after going through the UK immigration process. That was so easy and stress-free it's like night and day. So I guess my take on it all has been skewered a bit by being spoiled the first time around! Anyway, thanks again for all the input. I feel better now!

See my timeline for all previous dates!

Went to the bio appt today - was a breeze. In-and-out in less than 20 min. The ASC was very organized, no crowd in there and the staff was very friendly. I see improvement.

does it seem strange to anyone else that the whole of USCIS seems to have had some improvement in the timelines recently. Is is coincidence or is it the result of a new administration?

I think it is a result of increased number of employees, increased fees, end of application storm following the announcement of the future fee hikes... It has nothing to do with the lawyer in office now.

Well, I was going to try to do a walk-in biometrics today, but somebody hit my car in the parking lot at work last night (I wasn't there), and didn't leave any contacts for themselves of course, except their hub cap :P So car is in the shop now, will go next Friday for my appt instead as scheduled and hope to get the same great service others have been reporting... Meanwhile, I am trying the 'Corn Huskers' lotion tip I saw in another forum, to hopefully improve my fingerprints... :D

Sorry to hear this wannabe_texan,

That is a bad hit. I have had my share of worst experiences with accidents and insurance companies and all. Its real pain in the b***. With no fault of your own, you are stuck with making trips to the shop every now and then and the pleasure of driving a rental car. I hope everything works out for you.

You guys are on a faster track anyways (as compared to Jersey people...), so doing FP on scheduled time won't end up being a delay, if any, in getting the Interview Letter.
