Count me in. I am on the same desk, in the same pile.

The Lord is my strength and my shield,

My heart trusted in Him and I am helped,

therefore my heart greatly rejoices,

and with my song I will praise Him.

Psalm 28:7

There seem to be a few of us in the queue...I am starting to wonder if our desk has dust on it

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I hope you all hear something soon! After a certain amount of time can you do an inquiry about your case?...like the K-1?

I wanted to let everyone know that Balvino got a job at a plant shed affiliated with a church on the west side. We found out about the job through friends, so I would suggest exhausting family and friend connections regarding the job search. We looked and nothing was coming up but with the help of friends that attend the church we were able to get Balvino an interview. He is working a lot and making a little more than minimum wage in NYC. My concern is that it appears to be under the table. Balvino and I have discussed whether he should push to have it be on the books but want to wait until he has been there long enough to know the managers a little better. Do you guys think we should be worried about him working under the table considering in two years we have to renew his visa? I may post the question to general VJers soon but I wanted to see what you all thought.

Hope everyone is well. I hope your right about Thursday SapphireDreams.

Congrats to Balvino on his job! Josue is still looking, hoping, and praying! I would probably be worried about working under the table. Josue turned down two jobs at Mexican restaurants - one wanted him to work for $4.79/hr bussing tables with no tips and 48 hours a week, and the other wanted him to wait tables for just tips. Both are illegal. We have found that those who employ Latinos assume that they don't know the tax & minimum wage laws and take advantage of their job need. I think I would have to say something and approach it in the way that you don't want it to affect you or them.

Thanks for the feedback DavChels. I think at the end of this week I will have a long talk with Balvino. I would rather he focused on his studies right now. I think your right about the Latino thing. Most of the people there are latino and he likes them but I think there is an assumption that most are so desperate for work they will take anything offered. Balvino already turned down a free tutoring session because of this job.

I hope you hear something this week. Is Josue still looking for work? How's the pup, the house, and the school year going? I am still waiting to start a job in the the Bronx. The hiring freeze here in New York is crazy but I think it will work out this week. Good luck this week with emails!

What is he studying? Other than English, I mean? I hope it works out that he can stay there and that the business will do things the right way. Josue is still looking for work - the language barrier is difficult, but he is still getting free English classes twice a week and he is doing great with that! He also got his GED two weeks ago. He did take it in Spanish, but it was still difficult for him since he only went through 9th grade and stopped studying almost 10 years ago. Also, most of the Social Studies section was US History, but he still managed to do it!! The pup is good - she's big now! Well, by big I mean about 10 pounds haha. If I could figure out how to post a picture of her, I would. The house is great, we finally got the weed eater going so now we don't have a jungle growing around our front light in the yard anymore lol. The school year is also going very well - Monday is the end of the first six weeks, so we're chunking away at the school year already. I hope you can find something soon. I know with the job situation we have had a few arguments and I hate that the economy is affecting our relationship that way, but the only thing we can do is be frugal and stay positive!

Hope everyone else is doing great!
