Yes, apparently Atlanta sometimes schedules the oaths on the same day. I don't know what their criteria for doing so is but it has happened.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I had my citizenship interview and oath same day in Atlanta yesterday. I believe the cut off time for getting a same day oath is you have to have your interview completed by 1:30 pm. They have the capacity to sworn in 200 immigrants everyday.

Good luck with the process.

first of all thanks for the answers .. i have couple more questions from the check list...

just got the letter today and my interview will be @1:30...and i will be driving all the way from alabama to atlanta do you guys think they would do the oath on the same day if i explain my situation since its a such a long drive..?

*fahadkhan00 : did you have your selective service " Status Information Letter " i just talked to them on the phone they said it may take up to 3 weeks to get it in the mail...hope i `ll get it before the interview..or they said i can print it tru their web site but i am not sure if ucsis would except it.. any idea..?

would copies of the tax returns be enough or should i call IRS to get the past three years returns..

and the most important one: my state taxes are overdue and wont be able to pay till my interview date would that be a problem...?

They are more worried about federal taxes, but bring any correspondence you have with the state saying that you are going to pay or on a payment plan.

The above is not legal advice.

It is either from research or merely my opinion.

yea I had my status information letter with me but they didnt even cared to see it, I think as long as you put a valid registration number for selcetive service in N-400 it can be verified in real time over the internet from selective service website, so that should not be a big problem if you dont recieve it in the mail on time

they do ask about taxes, they didnt see my tax transcripts but did ask me if i owed any STATE or Federal taxes I didnt so I didnt had a problem there. I believe as the earlier post said, if you setup payment plans and have a printed copy of them you should be fine

Hi

Had my interview on May 19th and got same day ceremony, sorry to rain on your parade a little here but if your interview is at 1.30 I don't think you will get same day ceremony. As I understand it all cermonys at Atlanta office are at 2.00pm and I can't see you getting your inteview (even if it's on time) completed and then the paperwork goes to another Dept on the floor below who then call you to tell you if you have been accepted.

Sorry.....................................Paul
