Yea man...this country is turning for the worst for people from subcontinent. As for myself, I am stuck on security check. I mean come on, if I happened to be a terrorist, would I petition to USCIS and give them all my information so that they can do a background check on me with FBI? They always screw decent folks like you and me trying to make the best out of themselves in the US. Are they telling you about whats causing the delay?

Hang in there dude...talk to your wife alot. Also file I-129, may be you will get lucky. Luck has alot to do with it. I know someone from Pak whose wife came here in the US in 10 months, but that was 5 yrs ago. Things were bad then, but they are shi tty now. best of luck

It's been offically 6 months since I filed my I-130 and still haven't been approved??? Should I write a letter to a senator?? Or the President??? The conditions in Pakistan are getting worse day by day and I am afraid that they will shut down all operations for the immigration process. My husband is waiting in Pakistan and still waiting.... what do you think we should do???

Not sure what calendar you are working on... 6 months from what? Your timeline says you put in i130 Jan 26,09 6 months would be July 26?

FYI we filed in Nov 08 transferred from VSC to CSC Jan and touched Jan 30th then NOTHING until April 27th when it was approved.

Complaining or gumming up the works with complaints calls and Senators distracting adjudicators from the files they are working on will not help the situation.

They probably flipped your file to a more experienced adjudicator because someone who was a junior newbie could not decide in 15 minutes if your packet justified approval. Just a guess and I assume that is what went on with mine as well having seen people who have been married 5 minutes get approved in lightening speed and our packet took almost the full 6 months and we have been married 8 years plus.

Hate to be politically incorrect but Pakistan may be part of the problem as well.

I filed my I-130 October 24, 2008 where did the Jan 26 come from???

It's frustrating that people who filed their I-130 in Jan 2009 have already been approved in april 2009...

Yes Pakistan is a problem I already know that, my brother in-law had his interview oct 7 2008 but they kept his passport and visa until he called someone in the USA, it was coming close to his wedding in DEC and they finally gave him his visa and passport after all that....

Hi,

I filed mine on Decembe 2008, and sofar I didn't get any answer yet! I can not even check my case on the site, they didn't enter my information to the database! Can you check yours?

Try to contact your senator... but when we called the USCIS they told us that the 6 months thing is a timeline for a 'perfect world' and it may take them longer depending on the case. I'm sorry and this may even sound politically incorrect.. but honestly, it maybe because your beneficiary is a Man from Pakistan.. they may be trying to jam your petition somewhere. I've read somewhere that some immigration officer are biased on certain culture or place of origin.

Ask for help from a Senator.. or Congressman. The more liberal the better... i hope. Good luck!

ready to do any and all things?

First off, writing to the president, white house, FBI, Dept of Justice, congressmen, senators is not useless.. I did it, and it helped me get approval (also because I did a writ of mandamus - lawsuit).. Second, I believe the timeframe should be between 6-8 months for approval, if nothing happens, give them another 30 days and then start writing everybody.. there is plenty of stuff to do to get your approval.. it is just how far you are willing to push for that.. how important is your wife/husband to you? I'm willing to go all the way... my advice is to get ask other depts of the government if you are under any security checks.. even like the FBI says, they finish most of theirs in 72 hours (so at most 1 week).. if anything more than that, the office is just holding your petition..

SSB , I am sorry to hear your situation. I am on the same boat, though my spouse is from Nepal.

I am thinking more of the subcontinet issue, or may be they were waiting for the Indian Election, or getting the Talibans Out of the Swat Valley...Or a Stable new Government In Nepal. or Vicotry over the LITTE in Shri Lanka.....LOL

After all that happens , we may start seeing the NOA2...I think it is more of the Subcontinet Prejuidice then anything. or the ignorance on their part. My name is Mohan, and I have been told many times in my life in America, that my name is shortened version of Mohammad....LOL

If you know, there is a huge difference between Mohammad and MOhan...And i do actually tell my coworkers to please call me MO. that is easier......i got tired of them wrecking my actual name to Mohammad even though " what is it in name , afteralll"....LOl

SSB, I pray and pray for both you and I and ask other VJers to do the same...... just think of this, They Have No Choice but to either Approve or Deny our applications...

We waited almost 8 months. Right before we were approved we contacted our Senator's office and within a week we were approved. Nothing was updated, no notices, no anything and they did not get back to him either. When he did finally hear from NVC, he was told they had already approved us. I called NVC and sure enough we had been approved the previous week as soon as he had contacted them. I am sure this was not coincidence!! As much as you are getting discouraged I think you should try it! Our contact at the Senator’s office called us every Friday with updates even after NOA2 - he was great!

Don't lose hope!
