POE question:

My mom will cross with me. Our plan is for her to stay for a month to help with the move and be there for wedding, watch my son during honeymoon etc...

Will they give us problems? I will not have AP, so my plan at month end is to drive to Buffalo, have my ex drive over, spend the weekend with my son in Buf, then he will take my mom back.

My mom has no ties she can show? She is retired, lives with her long time boyfriend and the lease us in his name. The only thing she has is a passport, pension she gets and a Canadian bank account? Her life us simple.

I wonder if they are understanding due to fact that it is a wedding etc... Plus my fiancé will be there to give them the look of 'my MIL live with us? Over my dead body!' haha!

Maybe an affidavit from my ex saying he is meeting us and picking her up in 4 weeks?

I don't think you'll have any problems Poprocks travelling with your Mom.... Alot of people move with their parents help and that's OK. Perhaps you can show your Disney itenerary as proof she is going with you? And of course, she is there for your wedding! I doubt they will be suspicious of your mother's intent, but if you feel more comfortable get your ex to write the letter stating he is driving her back! With a phone # too

Wedding Dates and AoS... for Canadians on K1s!!!

July (?), 2009 - PopRocks

July 17, 2009 - July09Bride

August 6, 2009 - HuggleBuggles

Okay, just so I get this right... if PopRocks gets married sometime in July we'll be going through this craziness of AoS at the same time - again. AND/OR... if we wait until after we get back from the honeymoon to do the AoS, we could be going through AoS with Huggles... I LOVE having company going thrpugh the same stages of immigration on VJ!!!!

BTW... where in the heck have I been?? I JUST (about 5 minutes ago) noticed that PopRocks will be getting married in July instead of June! I really need to check in here more often! :bonk:

 here's the condensed version: Their house won't be ready when she moves, therefore her son and Mom are going to Disney and the beaches for a few weeks of sun and fun! So the wedding is being pushed back a little bit.

Jill, thanks for filling me in! I really need to "really read" and not just skim read when I bop in & outta the forum, when I don't have time to post. I knew about Disney, hanging out at the beach, her mom coming with them... guess I missed the delay in the wedding. *sigh* Thanks again!!! :)

Awesome!! And you didn't get a transfer notice saying you were transferred to CSC? Because all of my NOA's came from Missouri, I believe... then a notice saying I was transferred to CSC. Well, either way, it looks like your case is in CA which is excellent news! Likely means no interview! Doesn't necessarily mean it's super quick at CSC, just means no interview (probably). I just got lucky ;)

Arrg! No fair!! I wanna be lucky toooooo!!! :P

Well no interview is lucky for me. I am a bag of nerves around people who have the authority to tell me to get the heck out of their country :P

Yah, no notice or anything. Just says California Service Center on the envelope. I read everywhere that everyone got an actual NOTICE it was transferred, so that was my confusion :)

Well, I hope you get lucky as well  I was so happy to not have an interview, as we didn't really have any wedding photos so I thought that could be seen as an issue. Our wedding is next year, happy I didn't need to explain myself to USCIS. I kinda see the legal part as the marriage, and the party with friends and family celebrating as the wedding!

Awwww, I love my VJ friends for being in the loop...you guys bring a tear to my eye! So glad I have you guys to go through this with!

Carrie, congrats on the NOA!!!!

And yeah, we decided to push the wedding back, as there will be too much going on with no where to live, my fiancé was stressed and really wants us to go away to the shore and NYC for a week when we marry.

We will likely marry the week of July 6th, weather permitting. I assume the marriage cert could take about two weeks to get, so I will likely file end of July, with roughly 30 days to spare on my visa. So looks like we will be filing together! :)

Looks like we are getting the house. We really really REALLY want it! It is perfect for our lifestyle...my dream kitchen, my fiancés sun porch for relaxing, 4 bathrooms, 3 of course for me LOL! And an in law suite with sep bedrooms and bath for my mom and her extended stays. The inspection came back with several deficiences (home is 50+ years old) but the sellers are an elderly couple who have owned it forever...they have done major Reno's and are moving into a retirement home with no mortgage...so they are willing to work with us. My fiancé is just hashing out repairs with them right now...it really helps that his dad is a real estate lawyer and step mom our real estate agent, so they are working hard to get us in there by June 15th.

That is the house story in a nutshell. Fingers crossed it all goes according to plan. I'll be really sad if it falls through :( it has a great amount of property for my little guy to play which is great.

I booked our hotel at the shore, getting excited about the wedding!

We also just found out that my fiancés brother and his wife picked up a shore front property in OC for a great price. We can stay there anytime we want, even if they are down there as it has 5 bedrooms! So happy about that! I love the shore! It's the one place that symbolizes our entire relationship in regards to memories etc...

I got my fiancé to order 2008 IRS trans, and I did the passport pics this week. I have stuff printed out, but will wait to start in forms, as I will fill them out on line and then print them.

Jill posted a great post on instructions from the site, so I added it as a document to my iPhone for reference.

This is my last weekend in Toronto...still packing...my fiancé gets here next Weds... I was just recalling last summer prior to our filing, we found out how long it would take, and I started crying cause I thought I would move there by the end of 2008...LOL, feels like just yesterday! I never thought the day would come!

I am so super excited to finally FINALLY be with the love of my life!!!!!

Sorry I'm sentimental today LOL!

Sorry for typos I'm on my dang iPhone with these long nails! Lol'!

^^Awwww I'm so happy for you! I really, really hope you get the house, it sounds perfect. Like my Mom says, "everything always works out!!" And it really does! It feels SO good to be with your love, every day. It makes all these sacrifices we make totally worth it. Enjoy your last Canadian weekend for awhile!!

How does your son feel about moving, or is he too young to 'get' it?

I am so super excited to finally FINALLY be with the love of my life!!!!!

Sorry I'm sentimental today LOL!

Sorry for typos I'm on my dang iPhone with these long nails! Lol'!

I can't believe you have only a few more days and then you'll be here (as in, here in the USA). Your sentimentality is so endearing. :) Everything happens for a reason and it seems as if everything is working out just perfectly!!! I'm truly happy for you! :)

I know, sometimes I think that things are too perfectly falling into place and something will go wonky...i'm such a paranoid person! Like my ex will show up at my door step and say 'i'm not ok with you taking our son to the US anymore'.... even though he signed the papers a year ago.... i've been so kissing his rear just making sure he doesn't change his mind :( I know he won't, but I worry.... the day that I cross i'll be like 'I finally made it!' lol!

My son is a little young to understand... he is just excited about Disney lol! He does say 'mommy it is so far away' but I assure him that he will be back every few weeks to visit his dad....everything just takes adjusting I guess.

I'm just an overall worry wart... I really need to start having more faith in things :)

I was paranoid before moving too.... Like any little silly thing would worry me and I'd freak out.... the moment I drove away from the POE, it was literally like a weight lifted off my shoulders and I breathed a sigh of relief....

Don't worry, even if your ex did that, you have the Visas so it'd be too late  Not much he can do now.

I'm no legal expert, but I figure that until I actually leave, he can change his mind anytime and if I still left it would be kidnapping! Lol'! Even though I have full custody. I figure after we move, he would be hard pressed to do something as they would look at it as 'you had a whole year to say something, you waited until after they moved?' he really sees him every other weekend and technically the agreement we have will be having them see each other every 3 weeks...so really it's no different? I mean he's been seeing him every week as of recent cause he knows we are leaving...

Stress much?! Lol'! Like I said, I worry...and until I cross I am a bundle of nerves!!!! Lol'! Next Friday can't get here soon enough!
