hello everyone. first of i am new here. my name is tanja and i have reached the end of every string.

to make some things easier for you to understand i am going to tell you what is going on and maybe someone here has any idea on what i should do.

i got married july 2002, filled for aos in august 2002.

everything was ok, i got my biometric done, fingerprints and all that good stuff.

then on dec. 29 2003 i had my interview. i wrote them a letter back saying i could not attend due to pregnancy and my due date was jan 1 2004, so no way i could have gone to that. got a letter back stating they will send me a new letter with a new date.

ok so no problem.

i have still not gotten a letter. i called them like a billion times. i talked to lawyers who all turned out to be jerks. i went to an infopass appointment.

everyone keeps telling me the same "wait a little longer it will be in the mail soon"

how much longer? i filled 2002, it is 2009. 6 1/2 years to get your green card.

everytime i call they keep telling me not to worry my case is still pending. as long as it is pending everything is fine.

well it is not fine for me. i would like to get my green card, i would like to go back and visit my family for a change. i would like to be able to go on vaccations without trying to get it approved.

last time i heard from them was in november 2007, we moved andi changed my address, got the letter stating that they got it all changed.

then a week later i got another one saying my case is in memphis for the background check.

that was it, nothing since. i call every week. i talked to lawyers.

i am thinking about contacting our senator.

i mean what could possibly be taking so long? everytime i meet someone who is immigrating it just gets more and more frustrating. 6 months after filling they got everything done. 9 months, done. i am still sitting here after 6 1/2 years.

i dont know what else to do. i wish i could just march in there and be like hey i am not leaving until somebody explains to me what is going on. but they wont even let you do that.

i have three kids, born in the states. i have not left the country since i came here. i dont even have a speeding ticket.

right now my husband is deployed, which makes it even harder for me to not get stressed out.

i cant even speak my language right anymore.

so if there is anybody out there having any kind of idea. please let me know.

because it is really past the rediculous point now.

way past the processing dates and those people answering the phones dont have any idea what they are doing.

YES, definitely contact your senator to help you! 6 1/2 years is way too long!

My husband and I had the same problem. I was in Japan when we processed my Fiancee visa...It took us 2 years to get straiyhen things out. My application was even sent to Korea, Philippines back to Japan. I do not even know why it was sent to Korea, nobody could explain it to us. Until a senator from NJ helped us! Then it was done!

Call your one or both senators and see if they have a immigration specialist on their staff. Mine did wonders for us.

OMG, almost seven years??

Definitely contact your Senator's office. They were a great help to us at different stages of our process, and this seems like a textbook case where they can be of help.

And, since you mentioned your husband is deployed, I assume you are living on/near a military base (or your husband is at least connected to one)? Contact ACS (Army Community Service) there. It might vary from base to base, but here ACS has direct contacts with the local field office, and sometimes (though this is not widely known yet) a CIS representative comes on base and can be consulted. If ACS cannot help you or connect you to someone, you can also try JAG. On some posts, they can help.

I am so sorry you have been waiting this long. And I just let my husband read your post. He will be on pre-deployment training at the time of our upcoming interview date. Your story convinced him to take this rescheduling thing very serious ...

Take care,

Cat

I can not believe it !..... but there is another fact that I always post in threads that they are :

1) TRY TO DO EVERYTHING TO ATTEND TO THE ORIGINAL INTERVIEW;

2) DO NOT CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS DURING AOS PROCESS !.

Forget about the past now, the best thing to do for you is to give your case to local Congressman

or US Senator of your state. You can alternatively write a letter to Janet Napolitano "The Secretary of DHS",

here is her address :

Secretary Janet Napolitano

Department of Homeland Security

U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Washington, DC 20528

They can solve your problem very easily. GOOD LUCK !.....

Most of the time elected officials can throw their weight around with these sort of things, I would give them a call, actually you should have probably called them much earlier as this seems to be a problem that could be rectified if you had approached it more aggressively earlier.

Good luck.

i am going to call the senator tomorrow.

1) TRY TO DO EVERYTHING TO ATTEND TO THE ORIGINAL INTERVIEW;

2) DO NOT CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS DURING AOS PROCESS !.

i know but with a baby coming any minute it is not smart to go on a 7 hour trip. i even send them a note from my doctor.

and moving is easier said than done. my husband is in the military so we do move alot. but we changed the address every time the same day we moved in.

hopfully the senator can do something, and i have a lawyer calling me tomorrow too. maybe this one will be a little betterthen the other ones i talked to. they always wanted money and then told me the same thing they tell you on the web site.

and like another poster said i am going to see if they have something at the acs here. we are at a big base right now so i got the chance to see. before we always just lived close to an armory and the closest base was 4 hours away.

thanks for all your comments on this.

Please contact me privately at clarkcountyfence@yahoo.com and let me help you in resolving your issues.

I petitioned for my alien fiancé on February 10, 2008 and my case was not approved until December 12, 2009 due to now fault of my own. My case was just sitting on someone’s desk at the California Service Center until I took matters into my own hands. I am now glad to say that I am now happily married to my wife and we have filed for adjustment of status and we are preparing to file for follow to join benefits for her children.

Another notable case I resolved was for a guy from Belize Central America whose case was denied because the interviewing officer stated that his US Citizen Wife was unable to provide written statements from her mother, sister and grandmother stating that they were knowledgeable of the petitioner’s marriage to the beneficiary. I got this case (which I must mention was filed on the petitioner and beneficiary’s behalf by a reputable immigration attorney) after it was denied by USCIS and the beneficiary was given 30 day to leave to US or face deportation. After reviewing the case I immediately filed a motion and supporting brief for reconsideration to the above case. I am happy to report that this case was reopened and approved.

I guarantee that I can get your case resolved expediently contact me at clarkcountyfence@yahoo.com or 702-545-5718.

As i wrote before, a Senator's/Congressman's office and/or ACS on post or even JAG should be able to help you get this resolved pretty fast. I would NOT pay anyone (attorney, and certainly not a non-attorney for that matter!) a dime until you have exhausted this option (and I am an attorney myself).

Also, do you have an FRG group? Talk to the leader, maybe she can help you get in touch with the right people on base, if you have difficulty finding your way around (it is the FRG group's task to take care of the families during deployment - this should fall under it).

I agree with Catt, try the senator/congressman/JAG etc before spending any money on a lawyer! I really hope you get this resolved soon.
