Hi everybody

I m going to get married next week, i came with the k-1 visa. I was searching here, i cant find a answer for my doubt. My fiance and I are planing move from Missouri to Florida, two or tree weeks after the marriage, how do i change my address? only filling the papers with the new address in FLorida? Or the best is to fill with the missouri adress and once i am in FLorida, change it? Thanks for help!!!

AR-11 on the USCIS website. (you can do it online).

If your sponsor is moving, they will need the I-865.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I thought that was only once they filed AOS.

So, they can file after they move and not have to worry about the AR-11.

Or am I making this up?

Well, USCIS has them at one address now, so it would be safer to change the address I would think. (ar-11)

(the sponsor one - some slack perhaps :) since the I-864 is not sent yet)

Hi, thanks for all the replies. I understand about the the changing adress, my sposor is my mother in law, she is still be here in Missouri. So i only need change on the uscis web site, right? thanks again for help.

Yes - there are two methods for an alien to report a change of address - online or by mail/paper (with the AR-11) - only one of the two are necessary.

If you haven't yet submitted your AOS application or any other application since arriving on your K-1 Visa, then the USCIS would NOT have an address for you. In this case, I would suggest you NOT file a change of address record and simply use your new (florida) address on your AOS application. Generally speaking, it is much better if you can get through the entire AOS process (from application submitted to Green Card Issued) without changing your postal address. This creates less opportunity for confusion by the often confused USCIS.

Yes, but the information they have from the K1 process is YOUR address - not your fiance's (now wife's) new address WITH your post marriage address. This is the address that you would put on the AOS (which, by the way is a filing by HER - not you, as oppossed to the I-129F which is a filing by YOU and HER). So, in your situation, your fiance came to the US (using her K1 visa), you two got married, you two made decision about where to set up your joint home (Florida), SHE files her AOS with her (new) US address (which is the ONLY US address that USCIS would have for HER). and voila - you go through the entire AOS process using the same address - no need to send any change of address forms or other complicating things to the USCIS that will only get misfiled and confuse them. By the way, your situation is exactly the same as mine, worked fine for us.

Good Luck,

Samby

Your spouse is still your primary sponsor, and so will have to also fill out the address change form I-865 within 30 days of the move. This is required by law, and failure to do so could result in a monetary fine, and/or jail time.

The immigrant needs to fill in AR-11 within 10 days of the move, regardless of when or where AOS has been submitted or not.

You need to notify USCIS of any move (even if you just move next door) for the rest of your life, or until you get citizenship. Your sponsor has to notfy them until the affidavit of support has been fulfilled, which is 10 years, or until you get citizenship.
