Ad: Same sex marriage will take my freedom away

Alternative (**) marriage opens the door to many changes in our society which impact basic freedoms we have grown accustomed too.

One of the most intimate is the right to a public education.

Schools will be taxed with the job of training youngsters (I like that word) .... to embrace life styles which are contrary to many people of faith.

The only option will be private or home school.

Businesses which are run by people with traditional values will be forced by legal action to accept people whose very behavior or lifestyle they object too.

Such as if someone owns a bed-and-breakfast business or offers marriage services such as photography or limo.

If the homos legally hounded the BoyScouts, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, I doubt they will show mercy to anyone else who has a similar opinion on their lifestyle.

The cost of Gay-marriage both direct and indirect could be sizable.

Yeah, I agree with you on that one. Lord knows you can't embrace tolerance. Let's leave that whole tolerance thing to Jesus.

Clearly this is not the role of Government.

There are a lot of "long standing...social, religious and traditional values" that should be rejected and eradicated from the face of the Earth. And sometimes we need the government to do that. Slavery, for example, was long standing, socially acceptable if not promoted, justified and or promoted by religious leaders. Should there still be slavery?

Slavery? not only are your comments way far removed from anything relevant, but (as usual) Historically inaccurate.

It was the religious leaders, whose voices condemning Slavery had the greatest impact.

Danno - if you had a grade school child and his friend's parents were a gay couple, would you forbid your child to play with his friend? What about your child's friends whose parents are divorced? Living with someone (straight)?

Core values are not necessarily laws.

Lets not stray here, I posted about Public schools not criminal law.

I don't recall ever learning about "rape" in school.

I don't ever recall time being given to teaching me about the virtue of respecting anyones sexual practices.

Don't schools have enough work to do without extending into this type of stuff?

It's a little startling that some of you are so willing to give this power of "Social pioneering" to the School system.

All I can say is.... DON"T THINK YOU CAN CONTROL IT.

At different times and different places, a wide variance of views are found in school-boards.
